Performance Requirement of Cast-in-place Concrete with Sandwich Insulation (타설형 콘크리트 중단열 벽체의 요구성능 분석)

  • Energy load of building affected by insulation performance of building's exterior. and insulation system can be classify interior insulation, exterior insulation, sandwich insulation according to install place of insulation. but within interior insulation system, corner wall and the cross outer wall-slab insulation part may occur thermal bridges. And then, within exterior insulation system is more superior insulation performance than interior insulation, but it has difficult to apply, easily broken at high building because of strong wind load. And also difficult to maintenance exterior insulation system. So, in this study, to found requirement performance of cast-in-place sandwich insulation system that is superior insulation performance and easy construction and maintenance. requirement performance of cast-in-place sandwich insulation system is 1) To avoid thermal bridges in the insulation performance, 2) Both sides concrete wall can be composite action in the structural performance. Because of this study, can develops cast-in-place sandwich insulation system and this insulation system contribute to improve insulation performance of apartment-house and high building.

  • For an electrical insulation design of HTS cable, it is important to understand the dielectric characteristics of insulation materials in L$N_2$ and the insulation type. Generally, the electrical insulation of HTS Cable is classified into two types of the composite insulation and solid insulation type. In this research, we selected the insulation paper/L$N_2$ composite insulation type for the electric insulation of a HTS cable, and studied electric insulation characteristics of synthetic Laminated Polypropylene Paper(LPP) in liquid nitrogen(L$N_2$) for the application to high temperature superconducting(HTS) cable. Furthermore, we compared the breakdown characteristics of the butt gap and bended mini-model cable. It is necessary to understand the winding parameter of insulation paper/LN2 composite insulation.

  • This study was conducted to develop insulation for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). The developed insulation is based on the lamination technology and the radiation shielding technology of the satellite insulation. The insulation material is consisting of insulation material for conduction resistance, spacer, and radiation shielding material. The experimental apparatus consisting vacuum bell jar, pump, heater and temperature recording device has developed to verify the performance of the insulation. The experimental values were used as reference data for the modeling development. In this paper, heat transfer is assumed to be one- dimensional phenomena for the prediction of insulation performance and internal temperature distribution in high temperature region of SOFC. The developed model was used to compare the performance difference of insulation types according to composition materials. The analysis result shows that the insulation including spacer and radiation shielding has better heat insulation performance than other cases. In this study, the thickness reduction effect of about 20% was shown compared to the insulation including only conductive material. It is noted that the radiant shielding material should be carefully selected for durability, because SOFC insulation should be used for a long time at high temperature.

  • This increase in input per unit area due to the strengthening of energy design standards appears to accelerate the growth of insulation market. Therefore, in Korea, the construction of low radiation thin film composite insulation has been increasing in order to improve the thermal resistance of the air cavity and to reduce the thickness of the insulation. As building energy-saving designs become more popular in Korea (notification of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport), test reports of insulation tests on windows and walls must be approved for new construction. However, it is difficult to measure the thermal insulation performance of low-emissivity insulation only, and the insulation performance of low-emissivity insulation only is not satisfied because it does not satisfy the indices required for thermal insulation performance such as the energy performance index of the energy saving plan. Therefore, in order to derive reference data of low emissivity insulation, this study analyzed and measured the change of insulation performance according to the design factor of low emissivity insulation wall through numerical analysis and model test.

  • Because of energy crisis at all around the world, there is many method and system which for improving energy efficiency has appeared in construction industry. And then, 20% of entire building energy loss is emissed to exterior of buildings, that is important to building's entire energy efficiency. So, many research has been conducted for imporve exterior energy efficiency and generally it called insulation of wall. Method for wall insulation can be classified interior system and exterior system which defined installation place of insulation board whether interior or exterior of structural wall. However, interior system has thermal problem such as thermal-bridge which can be necessarily occur condensation. and exterior system has constructional problem such as difficult to construction because exterior and finish work so expensive construction cost than other insulation method. Thus, sandwich insulation wall system has been appeared for solving these problems. Sandwich insulation system must using wall connecting things because both side walls is divided by center insulation. At this, Through the heat at wall connecter, it can be occured thermal-bridge and broken insulation board when under construction will be bring negative effect by reducing wall thickness and insulation deficit. At this study, we were compared previous sandwich insulation system and analysis these system's problem for develop the improving constructability and performance of sandwich insulation system.

  • As part of the recent low-energy policy, insulation standards for buildings are increasing every year. In addition, the conventional styrofoam heat insulation material has a problem in that the thickness of the heat insulation material to achieve the standard heat transmission rate is rapidly increased. Although the risk of spreading the structure vulnerable to fire due to insufficient spacing between buildings due to thickened insulation is increasing, the high cost of high efficiency insulation is difficult to solve. On the other hand, it is known that the method to be used as a formwork using insulation is excellent in cost reduction effect by reducing the amount of formwork used and simplifying the subsequent insulation work. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the strength characteristics of multi - layered insulation materials with appropriate strength by reducing the thickness of the insulation by appropriately combining high performance phenolic foam insulation and styrofoam insulation.

  • Electrical insulation of small hydro generator stator winding is one of the most important parts in generator facilities. Some stator winding insulation problems can be identified through analysis of insulation diagnostic test. So, Diagnosis of stator winding insulation is an important measure of ensuring the safe operation and extending the remaining life of small hydro generator. This paper presents case studies of insulation failure in generator stator windings and the results of insulation diagnostic test for small hydro generator stator windings. Especially, Conducting the insulation diagnostic test before the generator installed in site is very important process to keep the good insulation condition in service.

Behavior of Thermal Insulation Ratio and clo due to Changes in Weight and Thickness of High Thermal Insulation Padding (고보온성 패딩의 중량과 두께 변화에 따른 보온율과 clo의 거동)

  • In the previous study of constant packing density when padding low thermal insulation, heat resistance and thermal insulation ratio (%) was determined to increase proportionally with the thickness. This study investigates the change in the thermal insulation ratio and clo with increase in weight and thickness of the padding, which has high thermal insulation performance, and the result is as follows. When the weight or thickness of the padding is small, the initial thermal insulation ratio (%) increases proportionally with the weight or thickness. Unlike in previous studies, in this study, the growth rate of thermal insulation ratio decreases from a certain point, and the proportional relationship does not appear. Thereafter, the growth rate of thermal insulation ratio is convergent near zero. Moreover, thermal insulation ratios do not increase even though the weight or thickness increases. If the padding has high thermal insulation performance, the clo increases proportionally with the weight or thickness of the padding. Furthermore, with the aforementioned behavioral characteristics of high thermal insulation padding, high insulation products can be used to improve vitality and survival rate of the wearer because high insulation padding with less weight and thickness than low insulation padding can achieve the same thermal insulation ratio.

Analysis of the Energy Saving Effect for the External Insulation Construction by Building Load Calculation Method (건물 부하계산 프로그램을 이용한 외단열 시공의 에너지 절감 효과 분석)

  • Reinforcement of insulation in apartment buildings reduces the heating and cooling energy consumption by lowering the heat transfer in the building envelope. There are differences between internal and external insulation methods in heat transmission properties. However, some building load calculation programs cannot analysis the differences between the two. This is because these programs do no account for the timelag or thermal storage effect of the wall according to the location of insulation. In this study, the heat transmission characteristics of internal and external insulation were analyzed by EnergyPlus, and heating and cooling energy demand was compared. The results showed that external insulation system had lower heating and cooling loads than internal insulation system. Also the heat transfer rate of external insulation is steadier than internal insulation. About 13.6% of heating and cooling energy demand decreased when the outdoor wall was finished with external insulation compared to the demand with internal insulation.

  • To perform ultrasonic testing (UT) thickness measurement of the secondary side piping installed in nuclear power plants, the insulation for preventing heat loss should be removed. The type of insulation can be divided into fixed and removable insulation. Fixed and removable insulation have their own strengths and weaknesses. Removable insulation has been installed in the components susceptible to wall thinning caused by FAC and erosion from Shin-Kori unit 1, which commenced its commercial operation in 2011. In this paper, the number of repeated inspections of components and the number of replacements of fixed insulation were estimated and a more economical way was identified based on the manufacturing and installation costs for fixed and removable insulation.
