  • The purpose of this study was to observe the resulting canal shape after using hand, sonic and ultrasonic instrumentation. Thirty canals from extracted human upper or lower 1st and 2nd molars were divided into 3 groups: hand, sonic and ultrasonic instrumentation group. 10 canals of each group were individually prepared with one of three instrumentation methods. After instrumentation and histological processing, apical, middle and coronal third cross sections were examined on the roundness of the canal by microscope. The result were as follows. 1. All experimented groups showed no significant difference in canal roundness regardless of size and level of the canal. 2. Sonic air instrumentation groups revealed Significantly better canal roundness than ultrasonic groups at the middle third of the fine canal. 3. In ultrasonic instrumentation groups, the roundness of the large canal was significantly better than that of fine canal.

  • This paper presents the design of a surveillance night vision system for marine ships. Both a hardware system and software modules for tracking control are developed. In order to control each control axis with compensation for ship motion, the two-degree of freedom(TDF) PID controller is designed and its parameters are tuned using a real-coded genetic algorithm(RCGA). Simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed system.

  • Genetic algorithm is well known as a stochastic searching method. In this paper, a modified genetic algorithm using 'Suppor Vector Machines (SVM)' is proposed. SVM is used to reduce the number of calling the objective function which in turn accelerate the searching speed compared to the conventional GA.

  • A CCD-based color uniformity measurement system was set up. Through measuring the two-dimensional brightness distributions of three primary colors on the screen, chromaticity coordinate distributions of combination gray can be obtained within a few seconds. This system can be widely used in the production of LCD projection.

  • By defining a uniform reference point array corresponding to the 3D voxel array and abandoning voxels whose deviations from their respective reference points exceed a given tolerance, the distribution of voxels within the volumetric 3D image space gets uniform, effects of non-uniform distribution upon the image reconstructing are eased.

  • To make real 3D vision available, we have established a volumetric 3D display system that based on rotating LED matrix. The paper introduced a method to correct the problem that pixels are not symmetrical but circumferential in space, which causes the resolution of the edge area much lower than that of the central area.

  • Fuzzy controller design consists of intuition, and any other information about how to control system, into a set of rules. These rules can then be applied to the system. It is very important to decide parameters of IF-THEN rules. Because fuzzy controller can make more adequate force to the plant by means of parameter optimization, which is accomplished by learning procedure. In this paper, we apply fuzzy controller designed to the Swing-UP Inverted pendulum.
