  • The energy-saving block and invisible multi-ribbed frame composite wall (EBIMFCW) is a new type of load-bearing wall. The study of this paper focus on it is hysteresis rule under horizontal cyclic loading. Firstly, based on the experimental data of the twelve specimens under horizontal cyclic loading, the influence of two important parameters of axial compression ratio and shear-span ratio on the restoring force model was analyzed. Secondly, a tetra-linear restoring force model considering four feature points and the degradation law of unloading stiffness was established by combining theoretical analysis and regression analysis of experimental data, and the theoretical formula of the peak load of the EBIMFCW was derived. Finally, the hysteretic path of the restoring force model was determined by analyzing the hysteresis characteristics of the typical hysteresis loop. The results show that the curves calculated by the tetra-linear restoring force model in this paper agree well with the experimental curves, especially the calculated values of the peak load of the wall are very close to the experimental values, which can provide a reference for the elastic-plastic analysis of the EBIMFCW.

  • To evaluate the seismic performance of multistory building structures use an equivalent SDOF model. This paper presents a method of converting a MDOF system into an equivalent SDOF model. The principal objective of this investigation is to evaluate appropriateness of converting method through perform nonlinear time history analysis of a multistory building structures and an equivalent SDOF model. The hysteresis rules to be used an equivalent SDOF model is obtained from the pushover analysis. The conclusion of this study is following; A method of converting a MDOF system into an equivalent SDOF model through the nonlinear time history response analysis is valid. The representative lateral displacement of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames is close to the height of the first modal participation vector $_1$$\beta$$_1$u}=1. It can be found that the hysteresis rule of an equivalent SDOF model have influence on the time history response. Therefore, it is necessary for selecting hysteresis rules to consider hysteresis characteristics of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames.

  • Though extensive research has been carried out for the ultimate strength of steel reinforced concrete (SRC) members under static and cyclic load, there was only limited information on the applied analysis models. Modeling of the inelastic response of SRC members can be accomplished by using a microcosmic model. However, generally used microcosmic model, which usually contains a group of parameters, is too complicated to apply in the nonlinear structural computation for large whole buildings. The intent of this paper is to develop an effective modeling approach for the reliable prediction of the inelastic response of SRC columns. Firstly, five SRC columns were tested under cyclic static load and constant axial force. Based on the experimental results, normalized trilinear skeleton curves were then put forward. Theoretical equation of normalizing point (ultimate strength point) was built up according to the load-bearing mechanism of RC columns and verified by the 5 specimens in this test and 14 SRC columns from parallel tests. Since no obvious strength deterioration and pinch effect were observed from the load-displacement curve, hysteresis rule considering only stiffness degradation was proposed through regression analysis. Compared with the experimental results, the applied analysis model is so reasonable to capture the overall cyclic response of SRC columns that it can be easily used in both static and dynamic analysis of the whole SRC structural systems.

  • To evaluate the seismic performance of multistory building structures use an equivalent SDOF model to represent the resistance of the structure to deformation as it respond in its predominant mode. Comparing the peak inelastic response of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames and an equivalent SDOF model, the adequacy and the validity of the converting method is verified. The conclusion of this study is following; A method of converting a MDOF system into an equivalent SDOF model through the nonlinear time history response analysis is valid. The representative lateral displacement of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames is close to the height of the first modal participation vector \ulcorner$_1{\beta}$${_1{\mu}}=1$. It can be found that the hysteresis rule of an equivalent SDOF model have influence on the time history response. Therefore, it necessary for selecting hysteresis rules to consider hysteresis characteristics of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames.

  • T-shaped welded steel pipe members are one of the pipe members which are widely used for civil and architecture structures. T-shaped tube member is connected by welding. These pipe members are known that fatigue crack in welding joint is frequently occurred due to fatigue loading. In this paper, the 3D FEM fatigue analysis method was proposed. In order to simulate a fatigue phenomenon that can predict fatigue life, 3D FEM analysis method considered the following theories: cyclic hysteresis constitutive equation, isotropic hardening rule, kinematic hardening rule, ratcheting effect, strain range effect, mean stress relaxation effect and cyclic elastic-plastic-damage constitutive equation etc. In order to simulate welded pipe member, three-dimensional non-steady heat conduction analysis and thermal elastic-plastic analysis were also carried out. The overall fatigue behavior of steel pipe member was clarified under high cycle loading. From the result of this study, it was analyzed the fatigue life of the T-type pipe welding member under high cycle loading by FEM. And, it was clarified that the proposed 3D Fatigue FEM analysis method is useful as a numerical tool for calculating the remaining fatigue life accompanied with crack.

  • An ultra-precision stage is used in many industrial areas such as precision machine tools or semiconductor apparatus. These stages used to be driven by piezoelectric actuators in order to obtain ultra precision positioning resolution. Piezoelectric actuator can be moved fast in nanometer resolution. However, it has relatively large non-linear characteristics like hysteresis and creep curve. Although several kinds of control techniques have been developed, controller design method is still complicated. In this paper fuzzy control rules are developed intuitively. In order to verify the performance a series of experiments were conducted and the results were compared with those of the PID controller case.

  • Fatigue life of a notched shaft was evaluated in order to estimate the durability and integrity of the notched shaft in design stage. Cumulative fatigue dama- ge analysis was performed using local strain approach based on the assumption that the fatigue life of a notched component is approximately same as that of a smooth specimen is subjected to the same strain at the notched component. In this paper, shafts with different notch root radius of 1, 2㎜ resulting in different values of stress concentration factors were tested under||rotating bending fatigue loading condition. Theoretical stress concentration factor for each notch type was calculated using finite element method. Fatigue life prediction program, FALIPS, written in C language was developed using the strain-life curve, and the local strain approach integrating Neuber's rule, cyclic stress-strain, and hysteresis loop equations. The fatigue life evaluated using the fatigue notch factor obtained from the experimentally determined fatigue strength showed very large scattering with nonconservatism, but the fatigue notch factors derived from the stress concentration factors and Peterson's equation reduced the considerablely accurate fatigue life evaluation within a factor of three.
