  • The thermo-mechanical bending behavior of the antisymmetric cross-ply laminates is examined using a new simple four variable trigonometric plate theory. The proposed theory utilizes a novel displacement field which introduces undetermined integral terms and needs only four variables. The validity of the present model is proved by comparison with solutions available in the literature.

  • Geographical position and associated climatic influences can be a negative environmental condition that affects sustainable use of land resources, especially pastoral livestock production. Vegetation condition of the country is sensitively changes upon climate changes and human impacts. Within last 60 years data the annual air temperature has increased in 1.66 degrees in average and the total precipitation amount had almost no change. The main goal of this work is to relate climate change within last 20 years with pasture condition, estimated by NOAA/NDVI data set.

  • In the current research paper, a quasi-3D beam theory is developed for free vibration analysis of functionally graded microbeams. The volume fractions of metal and ceramic are assumed to be distributed through a beam thickness by three functions, power function, symmetric power function and sigmoid law distribution. The modified coupled stress theory is used to incorporate size dependency of micobeam. The equation of motion is derived by using Hamilton's principle, however, Navier type solution method is used to obtain frequencies. Numerical results show the effects of the function distribution, power index and material scale parameter on fundamental frequencies of microbeams. This model provides designers with guidance to select the proper distributions and functions.

  • Muju Resort Development environmental impact statement(EIS) in Mt. Teogyu National Park are evaluated with the results of post-environmental evaluation. Three EIA items (ecosystem, hydrology, landuse) are investigated. In terms of ecosystem and hydrology, the environment during construction period was compared with post-construction and it was also true of hydrology section. The land use surrounding the resort area have been changed seriously, and the wildlife in large patch are endangered with the fragmentation by road and resort construction. The three items in the Muju Resort EIS was not assessed properly. So, in order to assess properly accurate data, appropriate approach, and periodical post evaluation are required.

  • In this work, a simple four-variable trigonometric shear deformation model with undetermined integral terms to consider the influences of transverse shear deformation is applied for the dynamic analysis of anti-symmetric laminated composite and soft core sandwich plates. Unlike the existing higher order theories, the current one contains only four unknowns. The equations of motion are obtained using the principle of virtual work. The analytical solution is determined by solving the eigenvalue problem. The influences of geometric ratio, modular ratio and fibre angle are critically evaluated for different problems of laminated composite and sandwich plates. The eigenfrequencies obtained using the current theory are verified by comparing the results with those of other theories and with the exact elasticity solution, if any.

  • A novel higher shear deformation theory (HSDT) is proposed for the bending, buckling and free vibration investigations of isotropic and functionally graded (FG) sandwich plates. It contains only four variables, which is even less than the first shear deformation theory (FSDT) and the conventional HSDTs. The model accounts for a parabolic variation of transverse shear stress, respects the traction free boundary conditions and contrary to the conventional HSDTs, the present one presents a novel displacement field which incorporates undetermined integral terms. Equations of motion determined in this work are applied for three types of FG structures: FG plates, sandwich plates with FG core and sandwich plates with FG faces. Analytical solutions are given to predict the transverse displacements, stresses, critical buckling forces and natural frequencies of simply supported plates and a comparison study is carried out to demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed model.
