GOES-9 GVAR Imager Processing System Development by KARI

  • Recently, KARI developed in-house meteorological sensor processing system named MESIS for GOES GVAR 5-CH Imager for better KOMPSAT EOC mission operation. MESIS consists of antenna system, receiver, serial telemetry card, processing and mapping software, and 2 NT PC systems. This paper shows system requirement, system design, characteristic and test results of processing system. System operation concept and sample image are also provided. Implemented system was proven to be fully operational through lots of operations covering from RF signal reception to web publishing.

  • As the power industry moves towards open competition, there has been a call for methodology to evaluate power system reliability by using composite interruption cost. This paper presents algorithms to evaluate the interruption cost of distribution power systems by taking into consideration the failure source and the composite customer interruption cost. From the consumer's standpoint, the composite customer interruption cost is considered as the most valuable index to estimate the reliability of a power distribution system. This paper presents new algorithms that consider the load by customer type and failure probability by distribution facilities while calculating the amount of unserved energy by customer type. Finally, evaluation results of unserved energy and system interruption cost based on composite customer interruption cost are shown in detail.

  • Triclinic system에는 2개의 point group들 1,(equation omitted), 그리고 monoclinic system에는 3개의 point groups, 2, m, 2/m 가 있는데/sup 1)/ point group들 1, 2, m은 polar point group이고 이 중의 1, 2는 enantiomorphous point group이며 point group들 (equation omitted)와 2/m은 centric point group으로 Laue group이라 일컬어진다./sup 2-4)/ 본 해설문에서는 point group들 1, (equation omitted)에서 나오는 2개의 space group들과 point group들 2, m, 2/m에서 유도되는 13개의 space group들의 좌표들을 유도하였다 . Monoclinic system에서는 unique axis b 만을 다루었고, 그리고 space group No. 14은 3가지로 해석하였으며 나머지는 standard space group만을 다루었다. 모든 space group diagram은 “International Tables for Crystallography, Volume A edited by Theo Hahn, Third revised edition published for The International Union of Crystallography by Kluwer Academic Publishers, 1992”에 기재되어 있다.

  • This paper presents an evaluation of the interruption costs for commercial customers in Korea using customer survey methodology. When various research results are examined, the evaluation of direct interruption costs becomes much more simplified. Especially, in the case of commercial customers, it is known that the evaluation of direct interruption costs is more useful. Accordingly, this paper selected the customer survey method to evaluate the interruption costs for commercial customers in Korea considering interruption and customer characteristics.

군지연 특성을 고려한 위성통신 시스템의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of the Satellite Communication System Including the Grop Delay Characteristics)

  • 본 논문에서는 group delay가 위성 통신 시스템에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 일정한 상수가 아닌 group delay에서는 신호의 위상 왜곡이 발생한다. Group delay는 특성에 따라 linear, parabolic, cubic으로 모델링할 수 있다. 각각의 group delay 특성을 위성통신 시스템에 적용하여 BER(bit error rate)을 분석한다. Group delay는 신호의 대역폭이 커질수록 신호에 미치는 영향이 커지는 특성을 갖고 있으며, 위성 통신 시스템의 정보 전송속도가 1Mbps, 4Mbps, 8Mbps 의 세 가지인 경우에 대하여 BER을 분석한다. 이때 channel coding으로는 구속장이 7이고, code rate 1/2인 convolution coding과 7/8 punctured convolution coding 를 이용한다. BER = $10^{-5}$을 만족하는 요구 SNR을 관찰하였을 때, group delay의 영향을 받는 데이터는 group delay의 영향을 받지 않은 데이터에 비해 요구 SNR은 최소 0.3㏈에서 최대 4.4㏈으로 증가한다. 이들 중 group delay에 의한 영향이 가장 큰 경우는 group delay의 특성이 linear 특성이고 channel coding이 7/8 puncture convolution coding, 전송속도가 8 Mbps인 경우로서 이때 요구 SNR은 4.4㏈증가한다.

  • 본 논문은 그룹 성과모형, 그룹 프로세스 유형, 그룹의 장단점을 살펴보았고, 현존하는 그룹웨어와 회의 지원시스템에 대해 조사하였다. 특히, 대부분의 기업에서 중요시하는 신상품 개발 팀의 업무 성과를 높이기 위한 방안으로 그룹 지원시스템이 제공해야 할 기능에 대해 논의하였다. 신상품 개발 팀을 위한 그룹 지원시스템은 프로세스에 참여하는 모든 구성원이 언제든지(Anytime), 어디에서든지(Anyplace) 신상품개발을 위해 협력할 수 있도록 지원기능을 제공하는 시스템이라 볼 수 있다. 지원시스템이 그룹의 성과를 높이려면 필요시에는 개별성, 병렬성, 익명성을 보장할 수 있어야 하며, 팀원 개인이 수행하는 업무와 공동으로 수행하는 업무를 둘 다 지원할 수 있어야 하고, 사전준비, 회의진행, 사후정리의 모든 과정에서 그룹 프로세스를 지원하면서 구성원의 창의력을 촉발시키고 그룹의 약점을 보완해주는 기능을 갖추어야 한다.

요양시설에 거주하는 치매노인을 위한 웃음요법과 음악요법이 우울과 자율신경활성도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Laughing and Music Therapy on Depression and Activities of the Autonomic Nervous System in the Elderly with Dementia)

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the effects of laughing and music therapy on depression and the activities of the autonomic nervous system in the elderly with dementia. Methods: The participants were 61 seniors over 65 years old with dementia, admitted to nursing homes. Twenty of them received laughing therapy, 21 received music therapy and 18 were in the control group. A total of 59 patients' data were analyzed. Depression was measured by Cornell Scale for Depression in Dementia tool, and the activities of the autonomic nervous system by the heart rate variability measuring device. The data were analyzed by frequency and percentage, Chi-square test, t-test, ANOVA, and Tukey test. Results: The depression of the music therapy group was more significantly decreased than the laughing therapy group and the control group. The activities of the autonomic nervous system of the laughing therapy group were more significantly increased than the music therapy group. The magnitude of the activities of the autonomic nervous system of the laughing therapy group were more significantly increased than the music therapy group. Conclusion: This study showed that music therapy was more effective than laughing therapy for the decrease of depression. Laughing and music therapy were more effective than in the control group for increasing the activities of the para-sympathetic nervous system and decreasing the activities of the sympathetic nerve system.

A Study on the Relationship between Company Performance and Production Management in Apparel Manufacture

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to investigate usage level of production strategies based on group of production environment, 2) to investigate usage level of production systems based on group of production strategy, and 3) to analyze each of company performance based on group of production strategy and system. For this study, the questionnaires were administered to 215 apparel manufactures in metropolitan area from Feb. to Mar. 1998. Employing a sample of 201, data were analyzed by factor analysis, descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis, and multivariate analysis of variance. The following are the results of this study. 1. Concerning production strategy due to group of production environment, the stable group and the complicated group prefer to rice/quality centered strategy but the level of usage for strategies is so pretty that it is not significant to carry out them. 2. Concerning production system due to group of production strategy, the workers centered group is occupied high in the price/quality centered group & the complex group. And also the product centered system is occupied high in the flexibility centered group. 3. Concerning company performance due to group of production strategy and system, the price/quality centered group holds low position of performance comparing to another groups. And the performance of the managers centered group is higher than that of the workers.

A need-awaring multi-agent approach to nomadic community computing for ad hoc need identification and group formation

  • Recently, community computing has been proposed for group formation and group decision-making. However, legacy community computing systems do not support group need identification for ad hoc group formation, which would be one of key features of ubiquitous decision support systems and services. Hence, this paper aims to provide a multi-agent based methodology to enable nomadic community computing which supports ad hoc need identification and group formation. Focusing on supporting group decision-making of relatively small sized multiple individual in a community, the methodology copes with the following three characteristics: (1) ad hoc group formation, (2) context-aware group need identification, and (3) using mobile devices working in- and out-doors. NAMA-US, an RFID-based prototype system, has been developed to show the feasibility of the idea proposed in this paper.
