  • The research of energy saving in building was studied many case of studies. The zero energy building contained a two concept like a minimum energy consumption and renewable energy facility installation for energy suppling. It means what the envelope of Zero Energy building has high performance of thermal. And the facility of building use independent heating and cooling energy consumption without outer source too. For accomplish the zero energy building, many technology were developed and applied at new building. In case of applying technology, the critical technology is enough for the zero energy building but the joint technology for zero energy building is not enough. Also the supply of the economical technology is difficult. To solving these difficult, the energy performance evaluation tool is used by many researchers in phase of the building design. These tool have a problem about reproducibility by the different input data. That was inputted by each simulator and they divided to level about expertise and situation. So they need to getting an specific information of building and advanced training of simulation. But for accomplish the zero energy building, these tool must be have modified to analysis of the building energy consumption suitably. Absolutely these tool need to update for the precision of analysis results. Additionally the zero energy building design contain a new technology for energy saving through the tool's extendability. In this study, authors was proposed the technical package and the case of simulation tool was compared for improvement suggestion. And this study was based actual certification and analysis tools like a ECO2. By these result, the authors was proposed two the improvement suggestion 'User friendly Interface' and 'Analysis reliability'.

  • The Korean government plans to introduce the building energy performance standard which regulates the annual energy consumption of buildings. This paper aimed to set up the reference building from database based on the building design trends for non-residential buildings. We surveyed the design data of 435 non-residential buildings which were granted building permission from 2007 to 2011. And we conducted estimation on the heating & cooling load and the energy consumption of the reference building using ECO2 program. From results, the reference building of non-residential buildings was office building which had a total 7 floors and $20,838m^2$ gross floor area. And it suggests the design reference data of building envelope, HAVC, heat source equipment and lighting system for the reference building. The total annual energy use of the reference building was $151.9kWh/m^2yr$.

  • the splendid Chinese ship-building technology enjoys a long history and has an important place in the world ship building history. Up to present, the study of ship-building technology focuses on the study of western ship-building technology, so the study of Chinese ship-building technology can remedy this. With the development of society, ship-building technology enjoys a fast development, in Song dynasty (960-1279) the Chinese ship-building technology had developed very much. Its main characteristics are the large size of ships and the rapid increase in number. The Chinese ship-building technology of Song dynasty established basis for thai of Yuan dynasty, thus a study on the Chinese ship-building technology of Song dynasty can help better understand the Chinese ship-building history.

  • Among various retrofitting strategies, use of semi-active control for retrofitting a building structure has gained momentum in recent years. One of the techniques for such retrofitting is to connect a weaker building to an adjacent stronger building by semi-active devices, so that performances of a weaker building are significantly improved for seismic forces. In this paper, a ten storey weaker building is connected to an adjacent stronger building using magneto-rheological (MR) dampers, for primarily improving the performance of the weaker building in terms of displacement, drift and base shear. For this, a fuzzy logic controller is specifically developed by fuzzyfying the responses of the coupled system. The performance of the control strategy is compared with the passive-on and passive-off controls. Pounding Mitigation between the two buildings is also investigated using all three control strategies. The results show that there exists a fundamental frequency ratio between the two buildings for which maximum control of the weaker building response takes place with no penalty on the stronger building. There exists also a fundamental frequency ratio where control of the weaker building response is achieved at the expense of the amplification of the stronger building. However, coupling strategy always improves the possibility of pounding mitigation.

  • Recently, an international oil price shows fluctuation in 70 dollars per barrel and it is said that this trend is able to continues for much longer. Because energy consumption in buildings accounted for about 25% of the nation's total demand for energy, Energy censervation and efficiency of buildings were very important issues. Main political measures relating to building energy use and saving were 'the system of accrediting green building', 'building energy certification system', 'energy consumption efficiency rating indication system', 'building energy code', 'high efficient energy materials certification system'. This paper presents approaches to improve building energy efficiency policy.

  • Current trend on sustainable tall building shows significant efforts on the integrated design approaches for the performative design to achieve efficient building for the energy, structural and materials. The design of tall buildings should take into consideration of environmental impact and economic benefits from sustainable approaches to ensure low energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Designing sustainable tall building require concerns and comprehensive understanding of sustainable building technology, sustainable rating system and supporting incentive policy. The research has been conducted on available rating system and the incentive policy for sustainable building design methodology through cases studies for this study. In the paper, author tried to emphasis the role of the incentive policy for the sustainable building and provides survey of the impact on rating, adaptable use of sustainable building technology on the current practice of tall building design.

  • Since the Intelligent Building was first introduced in early 1980s, It has been studied and designed by related technical experts as it was called by the name of intelligent Building, High-tech Intelligence Building, High-capacity Building, Intellectual Building, etc. Despite the need for new concept as the relation between global environment and architecture has become an issue on a full scale since 1990s and with the development of high technology, former concept is maintained without modification or complement. Especially, attempt to combine industrial technology with architecture is essential to Intelligent Building, therefore frequent opportunity of self-innovation according to the development of technology is necessary. Due to the rarity of the high-technology and its high cost, it was adopted to large-scale construction, however, nowadays, almost all kinds of buildings are getting designed with intelligent-technology. Therefore we can expect that this trend will be accelerated by evolution of technology and will position as a major stream of future architecture along with environment-friendly architecture. Through this process, we should fully be aware of the importance of the several intelligent skin technology to protect global environment and to set future direction in architecture.

  • This study provides basic data for implementing zero energy buildings. The targets were analyzed for buildings with buildings in the building energy efficiency rating of 1 ++ or higher. The target building is classified as a passive and active element. The passive element analyses thermal transmittance values for walls, windows, roofs, and floors. And the active element analyzed heating, cooling, hot water supply and new renewable energy. Based on the analysis results, the status of the building was reviewed through box-plot. also Renewable energy sources in solar and geothermal systems have calculated energy output. Most of the target buildings were rated below the minimum grade. To implement zero energy buildings, Improved insulation performance for minimizing the load of buildings and requires an active system design for optimum operation. Based on this study, we will conduct a study on the optimal design of passive and active elements for implementing zero energy buildings.
