  • In Internet of things (IoT) area, researches on recognizing human emotion are increasing recently. Generally, multi-modal features like facial images, bio-signals and voice signals are used for the emotion recognition. Among the multi-modal features, voice signals are the most convenient for acquisition. This paper proposes an emotion recognition method using tone and tempo based on voice. For this, we make voice databases from broadcasting media contents. Emotion recognition tests are carried out by extracted tone and tempo features from the voice databases. The result shows noticeable improvement of accuracy in comparison to conventional methods using only pitch.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out how voice recognition technology can be utilized to solve the elderly problem rapidly aging in Korea. Public support services and civilian nursing services for the elderly are expected to expand in Korea. In this case, voice recognition technology can be used variously for the elderly who are not familiar with the media interface. To this end, our researchers visited Japan and examined the achievements obtained by voice recognition technology in the elderly care. Especially, when caregivers write reports, they have greatly reduced their working hours by replacing the handwritten reports with ones using voice recognition technology. This method can be easily implemented in Korea. In addition, the social cost of the elderly support can be gradually reduced through the development of a robot equipped with voice recognition technology. Consequently, we realize that when voice recognition technology is combined with artificial intelligence programs of various emotion recognition functions and various policy possibilities as well.

  • The voice recognition has been made continuously. Now, this technology could support even natural language beyond recognition of isolated words. Interests for the voice recognition was boosting after the Siri, I-phone based voice recognition software, was presented in 2010. There are some occasions implemented voice enabled services using Korean voice recognition softwares, but their accuracy isn't accurate enough, because of background noise and lack of control on voice related features. In this paper, we propose a sort of multi-purpose preprocessor to improve this situation. This supports Keyword spotting in the continuous speech in addition to noise filtering function. This should be independent of any voice recognition software and it can extend its functionality to support continuous speech by additionally identifying the pre-predicate and the post-predicate in relative to the spotted keyword. We get validation about noise filter effectiveness, keyword recognition rate, continuous speech recognition rate by experiments.

  • This Study Propose A New Approach To Impliment A Intelligent Robot Control Based on Voice Recognition For Smart Factory Automation Since human usually communicate each other by voices, it is very convenient if voice is used to command humanoid robots or the other type robot system. A lot of researches has been performed about voice recognition systems for this purpose. Hidden Markov Model is a robust statistical methodology for efficient voice recognition in noise environments. It has being tested in a wide range of applications. A prediction approach traditionally applied for the text compression and coding, Prediction by Partial Matching which is a finite-context statistical modeling technique and can predict the next characters based on the context, has shown a great potential in developing novel solutions to several language modeling problems in speech recognition. It was illustrated the reliability of voice recognition by experiments for humanoid robot with 26 joints as the purpose of application to the manufacturing process.

  • In this paper, we present a study on the real-time implementation of mobile robot to which the interactive voice recognition technique is applied. The speech command utters the sentential connected word and asserted through the wireless remote control system. We implement an automatic distance speech command recognition system for voice-enabled services interactively. We construct a baseline automatic speech command recognition system, where acoustic models are trained from speech utterances spoken by a microphone. In order to improve the performance of the baseline automatic speech recognition system, the acoustic models are adapted to adjust the spectral characteristics of speech according to different microphones and the environmental mismatches between cross talking and distance speech. We illustrate the performance of the developed speech recognition system by experiments. As a result, it is illustrated that the average rates of proposed speech recognition system shows about 95% above.

  • In realization of wireless home network system using speech recognition in indoor voice recognition environment, background noise and reverberation are two main causes of digression in voice recognition system. In this study, the home network system resistant to reverberation and background noise using voice section detection method based on spectral entropy in indoor recognition environment is to be realized. Spectral subtraction can reduce the effect of reverberation and remove noise independent from voice signal by eliminating signal distorted by reverberation in spectrum. For effective spectral subtraction, the correct separation of voice section and silent section should be accompanied and for this, improvement of performance needs to be done, applying to voice section detection method based on entropy. In this study, experimental and indoor environment testing is carried out to figure out command recognition rate in indoor recognition environment. The test result shows that command recognition rate improved in static environment and reverberant room condition, using voice section detection method based on spectral entropy.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between users' expectation and satisfaction through analyzing smart phone voice recognition service and surveying the situational satisfaction of voice recognition service. First, the concept and current status of speech recognition service were investigated through literature research, and the questionnaire survey was carried out through questionnaires based on the second and third principles. As a result, the user is most likely to use the smartphone voice recognition service when making a telephone call. Also, it was found that the service is the most used at home and the service is used most when the hand is not available. Through these results, various methods such as personalization service, condition recognition function, automatic emergency recognition, unlocking by voice could be derived. Based on this research, it is expected that it will be used effectively for improving smartphone voice recognition service and developing wearable device in the future.

  • The Voice recognition is one of convenient methods to communicate between human and robots. This study proposes a speech recognition method using speech recognizers based on Hidden Markov Model (HMM) with a combination of techniques to enhance a biped robot control. In the past, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Dynamic Time Wrapping (DTW) were used, however, currently they are less commonly applied to speech recognition systems. This Research confirms that the HMM, an accepted high-performance technique, can be successfully employed to model speech signals. High recognition accuracy can be obtained by using HMMs. Apart from speech modeling techniques, multiple feature extraction methods have been studied to find speech stresses caused by emotions and the environment to improve speech recognition rates. The procedure consisted of 2 parts: one is recognizing robot commands using multiple HMM recognizers, and the other is sending recognized commands to control a robot. In this paper, a practical voice recognition system which can recognize a lot of task commands is proposed. The proposed system consists of a general purpose microprocessor and a useful voice recognition processor which can recognize a limited number of voice patterns. By simulation and experiment, it was illustrated the reliability of voice recognition rates for application of the manufacturing process.
