  • Continuous crystallization has always been a hot topic in industrial crystallization. Many efforts have been made to improve the continuous crystallization, either by designing novel continuous crystallizers or by proposing improved design and operation of conventional continuous crystallizers. Some new models for continuous crystallization processes have also been proposed and tested in recent years. In this work, the development of continuous crystallization in recent years, including novel crystallizers, control strategies, models and some assistive technologies, is summarized. Promising as it is, continuous crystallization is still not as universal as batch crystallization due to the existence of the drawbacks, such as blockage and encrustation. Therefore, further efforts are needed before wider application of continuous crystallization.

  • The parasitic capacitance between the high voltage electrodes and the backlight housing causes lowering lamp current, electric power leakage, and leading to lower brightness and efficiency in a multi-lamps backlight. In this study a new center balance swing operation method is introduced to be minimizing those housing effects.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze middle and high school technology teachers' recognition and educational need about engineering education. For this, we surveyed secondary school technology teachers. The result of this study is as follow. First, most technology teachers perceive that engineering contents are lack in technology education, therefore they recognize the needs of reinforcement of engineering contents. Second, most technology teachers perceive that present technology subject does not give positive affect to students for their own career selection on engineering field. Furthermore, they perceive that if it contained the contents of engineering in technology education, students would experience creative design and problem solving process. Third, most technology teachers perceive that they are able to teach engineering in technology education and they need the change of national curriculum and the development of engineering program contents. Fourth, they perceive that the 7~9 grade is the best grade to start to study engineering in elementary and secondary school. Fifth, they perceive that 'design', 'problem solving' and 'creative thinking' are the priority of educational needs of teaching ability and knowledge about engineering. Sixth, they perceive that the aerospace engineering, the electrical engineering, the electronic engineering, the mechanical engineering, the computer engineering and the environmental engineering are the priority of educational needs of teaching knowledge about engineering fields.

Thermal Stability in Organic and Polymeric Thin Films for Organic Electroluminescent Display

  • The capacitance-temperature (C-T) measurement technique is proposed in the present work to investigate the thermal stability of organic and polymeric thin films for organic electroluminescent display (OELD). The single layer devices with the individual materials were subjected to the C-T measurement, prior to the examination of the complete OELD. The single layer devices with the small molecules destroyed below $180\;^{\circ}C$ depending on the kinds of materials. However, the device with the hole-transporting polyimide did not show any relaxation up to $200\;^{\circ}C$. The small molecule based OELDs failed to emit light after annealing, whereas that with the hole-transporting polyimide worked well in spite of large reduction in intensity.
