A simulation study on synthesis gas process optimization for GTL (Gas-to-Liquid) pilot plant (GTL 합성유 제조용 파일럿 플랜트 최적 운전 변수 도출을 위한 합성가스 공정 시뮬레이션 연구)

  • A simulation study on synthesis gas process in GTL process was carried out in order to find optimum operation conditions for GTL (gas-to-liquid) pilot plant design. Optimum operating conditions for synthesis gas process were determined by changing reaction variables such as feed temperature and pressure. During the simulation, overall synthesis process was assumed to proceed under steady-state conditions. It was also assumed that physical properties of reaction medium were governed by RKS (Redlich-Kwong-Soave) equation. The effect of temperature and pressure on synthesis gas process $H_2$/CO ratio were mainly examined. Simulation results were also compared to experimental results to confirm the reliability of simulation model. Simulation results were reasonably well matched with experimental results.

  • We present a simple new idea to improve the quality of exemplar based texture synthesis using multiple rotated input exemplars. Our algorithm successfully obtain rotational synthesis feature variations and manages to reduce the artifacts in the results, especially patch seams due to the structure of the exemplars provided which have been inappropriate for previous neighborhood matching synthesis algorithms. Our algorithm is parallel in nature, thus it is possible to implement our algorithm using GPU or multi-core CPU to accelerate synthesis process.

  • In this study, we will implement a flexible formant analysis and synthesis system. In the analysis part, the two-channel (i.e., speech & EGG signals) approach is investigated for accurate estimation of formant information. The EGG signal is used for extracting exact pitch information that is needed for the pitch synchronous LPC analysis and closed phase LPC analysis. In the synthesis part, Klatt formant synthesizer is modified so that the user can change synthesis parameters arbitarily. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the two-channel analysis method over the one-channel(speech signal only) method in analysis as well as in synthesis. The implemented system is expected to be very helpful for studing the effects of synthesis parameters on the quality of synthetic speech and for the development of Korean text-to-speech(TTS) system with the formant synthesis method.

  • Three-dimensional video (3DV), as the new generation of video format standard, can provide the viewers with a vivid screen sense and a realistic stereo impression. Meanwhile the view synthesis has become an important issue for 3DV application. Differently from the conventional methods based on depth, in this paper we propose a new view synthesis algorithm, which can employ the correlation among views and warp in the image domain only. There are mainly two contributions. One is the incorporation of sobel edge points into feature extraction and matching, which can obtain a better stable homography and then a visual comfortable synthesis view compared to SIFT points only. The other is a novel image blending method proposed to obtain a better synthesis image. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can improve the synthesis quality both in subjectivity and objectivity.

  • The method of substructure synthesis o. component mode synthesis(CMS) provides an effective means of dynamic analysis of very large and/or complex structures. In this study, residual dynamic flexibility attachment modes in hybrid component mode synthesis are considered for the purpose of exactly compensating the effect of higher order truncated modes. Following this way, the analysis accuracy of the synthesized structure can be improved effectively with less computational effort. In order to show the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed hybrid component mode synthesis(HCMS), numerical experiments were carried out for the models of a clamped-clamped beam. The results verified the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents a parallel approach of formant synthesis method for haegeum on graphics processing units (GPU) using spectral modeling. Spectral modeling synthesis (SMS) is a technique that models time-varying spectra as a combination of sinusoids and a time-varying filtered noise component. A second-order digital resonator by the impulse-invariant transform (IIT) is applied to generate deterministic components and the results are band-pass filtered to adjust magnitude. The noise is calculated by first generating the sinusoids with formant synthesis, subtracting them from the original sound, and then removing some harmonics remained. The synthesized sounds are consequently by adding sinusoids, which are shown to be similar to the original Haegeum sounds. Furthermore, GPU accelerates the synthesis process enabling- real time music synthesis system development, supporting more sound effect, and multiple musical sound compositions.

  • ZnO nanowires were synthesized by hydrothermal technique. Prepared synthesis aqueous solutions were preserved by preheating in autoclave type synthesis equipment with various preheating time of 1 h difference. ITO-coated corning glass substrates deposited with AZO seed layers were then inserted in the preheated synthesis aqueous solutions and ZnO nanowires were grown for 180 min at $90^{\circ}C$. Density, length and aspect ratio of the grown ZnO nanowires were investigated. Composition, structural and optical properties of the grown ZnO nanowires were analyzed. Characteristics of the ZnO nanowires were comparatively studied in relation with $Zn^{2+}$ ion concentration measured directly after the preheating of synthesis aqueous solution.

  • 이 논문은 파이프라인 함성을 위한 상위수준 데이터 경로 하성과 콘트롤 합성의 통합에 관한 연구이다. 현재 대부분의 상위수준 합성 방법은 콘트롤 영역의 영향을 무시하는데 보다 나은 설계를 위하여 데이터 경로디자인 영역과 콘트롤 디자인 영역을 통합하여 탐색하는 파이프라인 상위수준함성 도구를 구현했다. 이 도구는 비용 제한 하에서 최고 성능의 파이프라인을 합성하는 비용재한합성과 성능 제한 하에서 최서 비용의 파이프라인을 합성하는 성능 제한합성의 두 가지 방식을 제공한다.

  • Computer-aided design of VLSI circuits is usually carried out in three synthesis steps; high-level synthesis, logic synthesis and layout synthesis. Each synthesis step is further kroken into a few optimization problems. In this paper we study the area minimization problem in floorplanning(also known as the floorplan sizing problem). We propose the area minimization algorithms for general floorplans.

  • We suggest a transform method form asynchronous finite state machines (AFSMs) into signal transition graphs (STGs) for speed-independent circuit synthesis. Existing works synthesize nodes in the state graph increases exponentially as the number of input and output signals increases. To overcome the problem of the exponential data complexity, we transform AFSMs into STGs so that the previous synthesis algorihtm form STGs can be applied.Accoridng to the experimental results, it turns out that our synthesis method produces more efficient circuit than the previous synthesis methods.
