  • The transient stability of the synchronous motor is generally improved by damper winding or flywheel. However the synchronous motor at full load will be pulled out from normal operation state when the period of power failure exceeds approximately ten cycle per second. This paper studies the method of improving the stability of synchronous motor by equipping the phase slipping switch between the motor and power source. This paper shows the motor does not pull out, which results from the decrease of power angle to about 30 electrical degrees by means of the switch even when the relatively long period of power failure brings the power angle to some 150 electrical degrees.

  • In this paper, the more accurate and simple synchronous machine model is derived by parameter modification method. At first, the flux linkage state space model is composed by redefining the parameters of synchronous machine and considering the saturation effect approximately. After that, this modified model is apply to the power system model and the effects of power system stability is analyzed by this model's characteristics in fault condition. As the result, the modified synchronous machine model shows more accurate and simple than the privious one.

  • For induction motors cannot maintain constant speed in various speed conditions, synchronous motors are generally used. But synchronous motor oscillate in shocking load, and it cannot start by itself for the lack of starting torque. In this paper, we analyzed the synchronous induction motor which has both characteristics, and compared the experimental results with FEM analysis.

  • In this study, the effect of load torque on the synchronous whirling of a rotor system has been studied analytically. Results show that the critical value of load torque to damping exists above which synchronous response decreases with increasing load torque. It has been also shown that the synchronous whirling amplitudes are more sensitive to the value of eccentricity and the ratio of disk radius to shaft length of the rotor system than other design parameters for a fixed value of load torque.

  • This paper represents a digital parallel control of a synchronous buck converter using a digital signal processor (DSP). The digital PWM and load sharing controller is implemented in the DSP TMS320F2812 and the experimental results are provided to show the feasibility of the digital synchronous buck regulator.

  • Some works about the current sensorless control of a synchronous reluctance motor have been presented. However, there is no analysis about the performance and the detuning effect of the current sensorless control. This paper presents the problems and the detuning effect of the current sensorless control of a synchronous reluctance motor by simulation results. In addition, torque limiter is proposed to limit the torque current within the torque limit.

  • This paper presents a novel current driving method for the synchronous rectifier(SR) in a flyback topology. The proposed current driven synchronous rectifier features low power loss, good performance and the gate voltage of FET in the synchronous rectifier is easily controlled by resistor ratio. The proposed SR driving method is implemented in a 200W Flyback converter with 400Vdc input and achieved excellent performance at full load.

  • Inductance characteristics, torque variations and ripple according to current, and position of multi-layer buried magnet synchronous machines with field-weakening operations are presented. The rotor structure optimal design of a buried magnet synchronous machine with high performance is investigated, and optimization results and comparison among design candidates are shown. For the fast and accurate search of multiple optima, the auto-tuning niching genetic algorithm is used and a final solution is selected considering various design factors.
