  • This paper closely examines the textual representations of 'blackness' in Korean military camptown (gijichon) literature from 1950's to 1980's, and argues that the animalistic portrayals and almost compulsive bestialization of blacks reveal an attempted hierarchization of Koreans above blacks with an underlying belief in white supremacy in coming to terms with Korean postcolonial subjectivity. Going against the grain of nationalist readings of gijichon literature, which largely celebrate its resistance against US domination, this paper problematizes racialized postcoloniality emerging out of these stories that span over four decades. The paper demonstrates that the racist depictions of blacks as the Other and even sympathetic portrayals of black soldiers all work to legitimate white supremacy and hierarchize race in the formation of Korean postcolonial subjectivity, paradoxically reinforcing and perpetuating colonial racial ideologies.

  • In human reliability analysis, dependence assessment is an important issue in risky large complex systems, such as operation of a nuclear power plant. Many existing methods depend on an expert's judgment, which contributes to the subjectivity and restrictions of results. Recently, a computational method, based on the Dempster-Shafer evidence theory and analytic hierarchy process, has been proposed to handle the dependence in human reliability analysis. The model can deal with uncertainty in an analyst's judgment and reduce the subjectivity in the evaluation process. However, the computation is heavy and complicated to some degree. The most important issue is that the existing method is in a positive aspect, which may cause an underestimation of the risk. In this study, a new evidential analytic hierarchy process dependence assessment methodology, based on the improvement of existing methods, has been proposed, which is expected to be easier and more effective.

  • In this paper, we offer a new strategic portfolio model for national IT R&D project selection in Korea. A risk and return (R-R) portfolio model was developed using an objectively quantified index on the two axes of risk and return, in order to select a strategic project and allocate resources in compliance with a national IT R&D strategy. We strategize using the R-R portfolio model to solve the non-strategy and subjectivity problems of the existing national R&D project selection model. We also use the quantified evaluation index of the IT technology road map (TRM) and the technical level reports (TLR) for the subjectivity of project selection, and try to discover the weights using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). In addition, we intend to maximize the chance for a successful national IT R&D project, by selecting a strategic portfolio project and balancing the allocation of resources effectively and objectively.

Method: The Q. methodology which provides a method of analyzing the individual's subjectivity was used. The 34 subjects classified 38 selected Q-statements into a 9 point scale to make a normal distribution. The collected data was analyzed using a QUANL PC program. Result: Three types of smoking cessation among smokers were identified. Type I, Family Centered; Type II, Suppressing Temptation; Type III, Self Overcoming. Conclusion: This study results revealed that different approaches of support programs are needed to address the three types of smoking cessation and their characteristics.

  • This work was researched by practical method in a subjectivity study accessible in-depth, in sloughing off old habit of functional quantity analysis about Reception Type on policy reception of public & health campaign. The perception pattern come out in this study were divided into four types in Q-methodology. The result is as follows ; it is that divided'1[(N=16): Policy Improvement Type], 2[(N=7) : Public-relation Utility Type], 3[(N=19): Financial-continuance Type], 4[(N=11) : Healthy-prevention Orientation Type]'. Like this, it found that is very different type all over. Hereafter, this study is to ascertain acceptance behavior about Reception Type on policy reception of public & health campaign ; to offer a developmental suggestion about it.

Therefore, these difficulties are increased while the clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to identify the attitude of female nursing students regarding intimate care to patient and the characteristics of the type by applying Q-methodology, and to create the basic data for the development of education programs for nursing student to prevent stress and embarrassed feeling. Data were collected by applying 35 Q statements to 32 female nursing students. Collected data were analyzed with the PC QUANL program. Results indicate that female nursing students' attitudes of intimate care were divided into four types: 'considering situation-professional obligation type' 'gender related risk avoidance type' 'transcendent professional care type' and 'pursuit of the ideal professional type.' Methods: Q-methodology was used as it provides a method of analyzing the subjectivity of each item. The participants were 33 mothers of premature infants who sorted 34 selected Q-statements which were then classified into the shape of a normal distribution using a 9-point scale. Subjectivity on parenting experience among the mothers was analyzed using the pc-QUANAL program. Results: Four types of parenting experience were identified. Type I was named 'struggling', type II, 'self blame', type III, 'information collecting', and type IV, 'self-introspection'. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that different approaches to educational programs are needed for mothers of premature infants based on the four types of parenting experience.

Q methodology was applied to the study. A total of 40 patients admitted to the S hospital in Seoul were asked to categorize 33 statements on patient safety. The collected data was analyzed using QUANL PC Program. After analysis, patient safety as perceived by the admitted patient was categorized into 6 types. The types were as follows: Type 1 'Those who note adequate patient safety', Type 2 'Those who consider preventive safety to be lacking' Type 3 'Those who see the evaluation criteria to be met', Type 4 'Those who see the facility safety to be lacking', Type 5 'Those who find the patient and facility safety to be adequate', Type 6 'Those who see patient support to be lacking'. The study provides a basic set of data for developing mediation measures needed to identify the direction in which patient safety should be promoted.

And in the point of the education of Korean I classified into the subjectivity. Through the modem poetry I came to find out that the modern Sijo is displayed the originality between the modem poetry and the ancient Sijo today. To sum up I researched the substance and the originality in Sijo in 21th centuries. In order to study the originality in the basis and the identity in Sijo which have succeeded up to present without interruption, it is to gather more materials, widen an appreciative eye for our culture and deepen the till now study continuously.
