User Behavior on Changing the Password from the Shadow Work View (그림자노동 차원에서 본 IT 사용자의 비밀번호 변경행동 연구)

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to explain the mechanism of user behaviors in password reset context based on descriptive data from conducting interviews. Specifically, this study attempted to describe the process of changing password from the shadow work perspective. Design/methodology/approach This study has interviewed 8 participants who can freely use numerous online web-sites. This study also employed the grounded theory methodology to analyze interview manuscripts. After conducting analyzing the manuscripts, this study has extracted 46 codes in the coding steps and ultimately presented 8 categories by combining similar concepts from those codes. Findings According to the results, this study provides new viewpoints to explain unique user behavior in the password reset context by capturing the shadow work based on the results. This study further offers practical implications to numerous practitioners by finding various codes, which related to users' reaction and behavior.

  • The objective of this paper is to present how to use Grounded Theory Methodology for conducting a literature review that produces new insights and conceptualizations. In this paper, we have employed Wolfswinkel et al.(2013)'s method, which is called by Grounded Theory Literature-Review Method, for a rigorous literature review. We have utilized this method to capture the concept and insights of individuals' shadow wok in digital environments. By analyzing the relevant literature based on Wolfswinkel et al.'s guide, we have extracted 73 codes in the coding steps and finally showed 12 categories by incorporating similar concepts from those codes. Based on the categories, we end this paper by developing the academic definitions of shadow work in digital environments.

  • Due to complexity of diverse features in urban area, accurate feature extraction is laborious task in aerial and satellite imagery. Especially occlusion by buildings, and image distortion of shadow effects make processing more difficult work. In this study, algorithm was presented to correct of shadow effects in aerial color images. Understanding Seniors' Acceptance and Usage for Online Education Program: Based on Grounded Theory (온라인 교육 수용 환경에서 시니어들의 디지털 행동 이해: 근거이론 적용)

  • This study conducted a qualitative study on 23 seniors over 55 years old to understand the digital behavior of seniors in the online education acceptance environment. Grounded Theory methodology was applied to the initial enrollment behavior, login behavior, and utilization behavior of online education program. Through the process of open coding, axis coding, and selective coding, the framework in the online education environment of the senior generation was finally derived. As a causal conditions for the senior generation to participate in the online education environment, goal orientation, relationship orientation, leisure orientation and external compulsory were derived, and shadow work appeared as the central phenomenon. Also, contextual conditions resulted in social change, physical and cognitive aging, and psychological atrophy. The intervening conditions included digital device acceptance, educational attitudes, environmental factors, and self-efficacy. Based on this, the action/interactions strategy formed a positive and negative attitude toward shadow work. As a result, positive response behavior, compromising behavior, and shadow work avoidance behavior were shown. It is hoped that this study will be reflected in future researches for the use of digital devices of the elderly and the expansion of online education participation and government policy.

A Study on the New Management System Considering Shadow IT (Shadow IT를 고려한 새로운 관리체계 도입에 관한 연구)

  • In a dynamic IT environment, employees often utilize external IT resources to work more efficiently and flexibly. However, the use of external IT resources beyond its control may cause difficulties in the company. This is known as "Shadow IT." In spite of efficiency gains or cost savings, Shadow IT presents problems for companies such as the outflow of enterprise data. To address these problems, appropriate measures are required to maintain a balance between flexibility and control. Therefore, in this study, we developed a new information security management system called AIIMS (Advanced IT service & Information security Management System) and the Shadow IT Evaluation Model. The proposed model reflects a Shadow IT's attributes such as innovativeness, effectiveness, and ripple effect. AIIMS consists of five fields: current analysis; Shadow IT management plans; management process; education and training; and internal audit. There are additional management items and sub-items within these five fields. Using AIIMS, we expect to not only mitigate the potential risks of Shadow IT but also create successful business outcomes. Now is the time to draw to the Light in the Shadow IT.

Structural Design of a Cathode-ray Tube (CRT) to Improve its Mechanical Shockproof Character

  • An electronic beam mis-landing phenomenon on the RGB (red/green/blue) -fluorescent surface has been considered as one of serious problems to be solved in cathode-ray tube (CRT), which is generally caused by mechanical shock and vibration. In this work, structural design concepts on the major parts of the CRT, such as a frame, a shadow mask, and a spring, are studied to improve the mechanical shockproof character of a CRT by FEM-analyses and experimental approaches ; a frame is newly designed to have strength employing the double-corner-beads which reduces considerably the distortion of the frame and the shadow mask : the edge-bead of a shadow-mask is redesigned to maintain the wide curved surface of a shadow-mask after mechanical shock : finally, a spring supporting the frame and the shadow-mask is designed to have enough flexibility along drop-direction. As an example, a conventional type of a 15inch CRT was utilized to demonstrate the feasibility and usefulness of this work. Overall, some favorable information on the structural design of the CRT is achieved, and the mechanical shockproof character of a 15-inch CRT is improved in the degree of 3G $(1G=9.81m/s^2)$ as an average-value.

A Study of the Economic Valuation of Rural Women's Labor - Agricultural Work and Household Work - (여성농업인 노동의 경제적 가치평가에 관한 연구 - 농업노동과 가사노동 -)

  • The purposes of this study were to explore the rural women's labor by measuring labor value economically. To achieve the purpose, this study applied four methods : replacement cost method individual function, replacement cost method generalist, opportunity cost method and shadow wage method. The results of this study were as follows: 1) Time used for agricultural work and household work by with women were 5.3 hours and 3.8 hours each. 2) According to the methods used, the amounts of valuing rural women's labor were varied and ranged from 23,000 won to 43,000 won per day. This study might help recognize the degree of rural women's labor contribution to the household income of farm households and improve the socio-economic status of rural women through showing the productivity of the rural women's labor.

The Effects of Cognitive Acceleration Instructional Strategies Applied to Unit of 'The Light and Shadow' in Elementary School (초등학교 빛과 그림자 단원에 적용한 인지 가속 수업 전략의 효과)

  • This study investigated the effects of teaching-learning lesson plan using cognitive acceleration instructional strategies applied to the unit, 'The Light and Shadow' in elementary school. Two classes of the second grade elementary students (N=63) in Chungcheongbukdo districts were assigned to control and treatment groups each, and were taught about 'The Light and Shadow' for 8 class hours. For the treatment group, teaching-learning lesson plan using cognitive acceleration instructional strategies developed by this research was applied. The traditional instruction by textbook and teacher's guides was used for the control group. All students were tested with the test for concept of the shadow and the test for academic achievement about the unit. As the result of the post-test, the scores of the treatment group were higher than those of the control group. However, it was not statistically meaningful difference. The scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group in the delayed-post-test for concept of the shadow. No significant interaction was observed with respect to the students' gender, instruction and pre-level for the concept of the shadow. Data analysis indicated that the scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group in the post-test and delayed- post-test for the concept of the shadow in the area of object permanence. Our research work shows the effectiveness of the teaching-learning lesson using cognitive acceleration instructional strategies for the development for concept of the shadow for elementary school students, and suggests the necessity for this kind of teaching-learning program in the fields.

Technology of Stip Rolling of Shadow Mask Steel Plate By Reversing Cold Rolling Mill (가역식 냉간압연기의 Shadow Mask재 압연기술)

  • The steel plate for shadow mask is used in a Cathode-ray tube of TV monitor and is the strictest product in surface quality because hundreds thousand of holes are perforated in a plane of 25 ${\times}$25 inches. To mass-produce this product, a reversible cold rolling mill for silicon steel was used and the rolling technology and the activity for quality improvement are described in this work. Because the steel plate is a mild steel, which is very sensitive to strip-breakage even in a low tension, we reset the minimum tension values matching to the operating conditions. The roll mark due to the multi-segmented araangement of shape controlling roll was prevented by hardening the intermediate shape controlling roll and by changing the existing working-roll into a HSS (Hig Speed Steel) roll. The scratch caused by the speed difference between a idle roll and a strip was prevented by increasing the roll roughness. With these activities, the steel plate for shadow mask can be stable. The continuous improvement of quality is, however, required for the customer satisfaction both of domestic and overseas market.

  • Object extraction is needed to track objects in color traffic image sequence. To extract objects, we use background differencing method based on MOG(Mixture of Gaussians). In extracted objects, shadows may be included. Due to shadows, we may not find exact location of objects and sometimes we find adjacent objects are glued together. Many methods have been proposed to remove shadows. Conventional methods usually assume that color and texture information are preserved under the shadow. Thus these methods do not work well if these assumptions do not hold. In this paper, we propose a new robust shadow removal method which works well in those situations. First we extract shadow pixel candidates by analysing color information and compute the ratio of shadow pixel candidates over the total number of Pixels. W the ratio is reasonable, we remove shadow candidate Pixels and if not, we use data in history array containing Previous removal records. We applied the method to real color traffic image sequences and obtained good results.
