Comparison and Analysis on magnetic structures of Switched Reluctance Motors (Switched Reluctance Motor의 자기적 구조에 대한 비교 해석)

  • SRM is designed to meet operating standards such as low cost, simple magnetic structure, a desired operating speed range, high efficiency, high performance, and good matching for DC power. The magnetic flux of SRM is independent of its direction to develop a torque and it allows the flexible characteristics of the magnetic structure for SRM. In this paper, SRM can widely classify two types, Radial-Flux SRM and Axial-Flux SRM, according to the flux direction. Radial-Flux SRM includes Conventional, Segmented stator and rotor, and Double stator SRM, etc. and Axial-Flux SRM includes C-core stator and the Axial-airgap SRM. This paper is subjected the basic characteristics to select the best of the magnetic structure of SRM in the appropriate application by the classification of SRM.

  • This paper discusses comparison between a CSRM(conventional SRM) and a TSRM(toroidal SRM). Unlike the CSRM, the TSRM has its windings mounted around the stator york instead of the stator pole. Therefore, the TSRM has many different properties in terms of the structure as well as the waveform of phase currents, phase voltages, back-EMF, flux linkages, etc. This paper presents the theoretical comparison between the TSRM and the CSRM followed by simulation results.

  • This paper proposes a new driving scheme for single-phase SRM. The driving scheme is very simple and inexpensive. By use of this scheme, simple power devices based on low switching losses enable to high efficiency SRM drive. Starting, One of the main problem in single-phase SRM is overcame by a new starting algorithm with one hall sensor and a parting magnet. The proposed single phase SRM has a high efficiency and robust drive characteristics compared to that of a universal motor.

  • A novel high power factor drive of a single-phase switched reluctance motor (SRM) is researched. It achieves sinusoidal and near unity power factor input currents. The proposed SRM drive has one additional active switches. And a single-stage approach has a simple structure and low cost. A prototype to drive an SRM equipping a suitable encoder is designed to evaluate the proposed topology. The characteristics and validity of the proposed circuit is discussed with some simulations and experimental results.

  • Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) is rotated by reluctance force generated between rotor pole and stator pole. So SRM must be switched by exciting current according to rotor position. but SRM takes the advantages of high speed driving and very simple structure. The single phase SRM can not be start by itself and torque ripple is generated more than multi-phase SRM. But mechanical structure and driver is simpler than multi-phase SRM. The single phase SRM driver is composed with the absolute encoder and DSP to control exciting section and current, and is supplied by constant voltage. So The paper is intend to measure the speed charactrer of double silent pole type SRM by using the unipolar driving curcuit.

  • This paper proposes an SRM drive system to improve the drive efficiency of the hydraulic system. From the maximum hydraulic pressure and flow rate required by the hydraulic system, a proper SRM is designed and tested. The proposed SRM drive system controls oil pressure of the hydraulic system as well as motor speed. A 2.2[kW], 12/8-pole SR motor and digital controller based DSP are designed and tested for hydraulic pump system. The test results show that the system has some good features such as high efficiency and rapid response characteristics.

  • This paper presents an implementation of position control system of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using digital hysteresis controller by TMS320F740 DSP. Although SRM possess several advantages including simple structure and high efficiency, but the control thrive system using power semiconductor device is required to drive this motor. The control drive system increases overall system cost. To overcome this problem and increase the application of SRM, it is needed to develope the servo dave system of SRM. So, the position control system of 1 Hp SRM is developed and evacuated by adaptive switching angle control. The position/speed response characteristics and voltage/current waveforms are presented to prove the capability of SRM for a servo drive application. Moreover, digital hysteresis current controller is developed and evaluated by experimental testing for the purpose of system developmental cost reduction.

  • Cost reduction requires lowering number of power devices used in the converter driving SRM. This is quite feasible in SRM drive systems than in other drive systems. This paper deals with analysis and simulation of a novel two phase SRM. A novel two phase SRM has high performance, self-starling capability, high efficiency, and low manufacturing cost. Additionally, the stator back iron does not experience any flux reversal as the flux is in the same direction whether phase A or B is excited leading to a greater reduction in core losses. The magnetic analysis and design considerations of the novel two phase SRM have been obtained by the finite element analysis (FEM).

  • In this paper, it deals with Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) which has fuzzy logic contoroller(FLC). The modeling and FLC of SRM are presented. The modeling and FLC of SRM are presented. The results of simulation show the speed responce characteristics of SRM with FLC. As a result, the SRM controller with FLC is verified by comparison between PI controller and fuzzy logic controller.

  • A switched reluctance motor (SRM) has very simple structure and robustness. Generally, for driving SRM, several (6-8) switching devices are required. This is weakpoint for reducing the cost of SRM drive. In This paper, we simulate the single phase and three phase SRM, and we compare the performance or single phase SRM with that of three phase SRM through experiment. Finally we suggest the appropriate application of single phase SRM.
