A Study on Operational Status of the Six Sigma Action in Manufacturing Industry (제조부문의 6시그마 활동 운영 실태에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: Most enterprises adopt six sigma acts to maximize the business performance with raising the executiveness for the project improvements in each parts. But there are little studies about six sigma actual operations in manufacturing whether the six sigma improvements that have injected a lot of budget, efforts, labours and time are run properly. Methods: This study select 31 interviewees who have MBB or BB from 5 large enterprises running six sigma over 10 years and 5 SMEs running six sigma over 5 years to understand and review the operational status of six sigma actions in manufacturing industry and to secure representativeness. This study identify the operational status of six sigma actions and key factors enhancing or impeding execution of six sigma projects through face-to-face interviews and online surveys by e-mail. Results: This study figured out the operational status of six sigma actions and key factors enhancing or impeding execution of six sigma projects. We used SPSS 16.0 for the reliability and the validity of survey data. Conclusion: There can be a lot of different factors that affect six sigma project improvements besides the key factors from this study. More study need to think of the organization characteristics and the basic conditions and to remedy the unreasonable points and defects rather than following foreign companies and enterprises.

Design and Performance Analysis of Wideband Six-port Phase correlator (대역폭이 향상된 Six-port 위상 상관기 설계 및 성능 분석)

  • The six-port correlator is comprised of a power divider and three hybrid couplers. In this paper, the six-port phase correlator using three-arm branch $90^{\circ}$ hybrid coupler were designed with the center frequency of 11.85 GHz. The performances for the six-port phase correlator was analyzed by using ADS2003A tool. Three-arm six-port phase correlator provides more wide dynamic frequency range than that of six-port using the conventional hybrid coupler in range of circa five times, which is range of 10.8 to 12.3GHz (1.5 GHz). The phase errors among the output ports of the six-port phase correlator are below $5^{\circ}$. The six-port Phase correlator was fabricated to evaluate the Performance of the proposed six-port phase correlator. The measured performance of the six-port phase correlator shows the good accordance with the simulation data.

  • Six sigma is much less of a technical program than it is a leadership and cultural change program. Nevertheless, most of literatures on six sigma have mainly focused on technical and tactical aspects. This paper introduces a self-assessment for six sigma initiative in a major Korean software company. The self-assessment gives a valuable clue to how to manage leadership and cultural aspects of six sigma initiative.

Comparison of Efficiency for Different Switching Tables in Six-Phase Induction Motor DTC Drive

  • In this paper, different switching tables proposed for the Direct Torque Controlled (DTC) of a six-phase induction machine are simulated and implemented. A six-phase induction motor has 64 space voltage vectors which result in increased complexity in the selecting of inverters switching. The unsuitable selection of a switching table leads to large harmonics especially at low speed and it also reduces drive efficiency. A six-phase induction machine has large zero sequence harmonic currents of the order $6{\kappa}{\pm}1$. These harmonic currents are varied in various techniques. Decreasing this loss is essential in a six-phase induction machine. The main purpose of this paper is to improve the ST-DTC of six-phase induction machines to reduce the voltage and current harmonics and the torque pulsation. Selecting a suitable method for minimizing these harmonics is very important.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to analyze the naming of 'A diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun six meridian patterns and provisions' and to suggest an alternative naming. Methods : 1. The meaning of 'Six meridian(六經)' was reviewed on existing theories and Shanghanlun provisions. 2. Comparing the name of diangostic system with the term in 'Korean Standard Classification of Diseases-6(KCD-6)' and term in 'WHO international standard terminologies on traditional medicine in the western pacific region' was done. Results : 'Six meridian' is customary used in the Shagnhanlun study but its meaning is not match with original Shanghanlun system and could possibly make misunderstanding. So 'Disease pattern identification' is suitable than 'Six meridian' for this diagnostic system. Conclusions : This study suggests that using 'A disease pattern identification diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun provisions.'is more appropriate instead of using the name of the six meridian diagnostic system.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to help korean medical doctors write case reports based on Shanghanlun six clinical patterns and provisions accurately and effectively. Methods : To achieve the purpose of this study, we reviewed Shanghanlun six clinical patterns and provisions. After this, we formed a case report form according to the importance of Korean medical terms in Shanghanlun. Results : Through this study, we got the consistency and unity of case reports based on Shanghanlun six clinical patterns and provisions. Conclusions : This case report form is designed for gathering clinical data which are organized clearly according to the diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun six clinical patterns and provisions.

Design and Implementation of QPSK Receiver Using Six-Port Direct Conversion (Six-Port 직접 변환을 이용한 QPSK 수신기 설계 및 제작)

  • A simple six-port direct conversion QPSK receiver which is made up of a six-port phase correlator, a signal power detector, and I/Q channel signal de-modulator is designed and implemented in this paper. The output phase signals of six-port phase correlator are also analysed. On the basis of $90^{\circ}C$ phase relation among the six-port phase correlator output signals, the QPSK de-modulation circuit is designed by a simple circuit. The six-port phase correlator is made up of $90^{\circ}$ hybrid branch line and power detector. The six-port phase correlator, which is designed in frequency range of 11.7 to 12.0 GHz, gets the phase error characteristics less than $5^{\circ}$. By considering matching network and amplitude balance in the designed fiequency range, the designed six-port direct conversion QPSK receiver demodulates the I and Q signals with performance less than $5^{\circ}$ phase error.

Design and fabrication of multi-band six-port phase correlator using metamaterial (메타물질 구조 다중대역 6단자 위상상관기 설계 및 제작)

  • The multi-band six-port phase correlator using metamaterial was designed and fabricated in this paper. The lumped metamaterial structure that can process the dual-band receiving signal was analyzed. Based on the analyzed results, the small-sized metamatrial six-port phase correlator for multi-band direct conversion method was proposed and fabricated. Also, the resistive power divider and $90^{\circ}$ hybrid coupler that comprises the six-port phase correlator were implemented based on the scattering parameters of metamatrial six-port phase correlator. The measured results of the proposed six-port phase correlator show the good agreement with simulation results. The performance of the six-port phase correlator shows the reflection loss below -20 dB in the dual-band. Also, the proposed six-port phase correlator got a good transmission characteristic within 1 dB gain difference and ${\pm}4.1^{\circ}$ phase imbalance, respectively.

Design and implementation of power-controlled front-end module for direct conversion receiver (전력제어 직접변환수신 6단자 소자 설계 및 제작)

  • The power-controlled six-port element that can control the local oscillator signal power and receiving RF signal power was designed and implemented in this paper. The direct conversion six-port element configuration was proposed, which provides the constant six-port output power by controlling the six-port input power with various signal strength. The direct conversion six-port element protects the power detector element of six-port receiver from the saturation status and compensates the transmission performance degradation. For implementation of power-controlled six-port element, the power-controlled six-port element including the power controller was analyzed. The implemented power-controlled six-port element shows the power control capability of 36 dB and gain imbalance of about 1.6 dB, phase imbalance of about $4^{\circ}$ in the frequency range of 1.69 GHz. The measured results show the good performance as direct conversion front-end element.
