Fronthaul Technology Trends for 5G Mobile Communications (5G 이동통신을 위한 프론트홀 기술 동향)

  • The introduction of new access technologies in 5G radio networks has had a considerable impact on the design of transport networks. Research activities are underway on new transport technologies in both the wireless and optical domains to support 5G transport. This paper provides an overview of the concept and requirements of a fronthaul. We also discuss the research activities of a new fronthaul interface for future 5G networks, a 5G integrated fronthaul/backhaul transport network (5G-Crosshaul), a next-generation fronthaul interface (NGFI), a mobile xhaul network (MXN), and a next-generation mobile fronthaul architecture with multi-IF carrier transmission scheme.

  • The purpose of this study was to survey and analyse the technical information flow and the status of information use of end user in the venture capital. The survey by questionnaire was used to collect data for the study and the SPSS program was used for analysiso of descriptive statistics. As the results of the study, the researchers of the venture capital thought that their research activities were important for the improvement of their company. They also suggested their opinion that the technical information was essential on research activities. The researchers wanted the manpower to take charge of gathering and managing technical information.

  • Two receiving systems were established at the Asian Center for Research on Remote Sensing (ACRoRS) to receive remote sensing data from NOAA AVHRR and Terra/Aqua MODIS sensors in October 1997 and May 2001, respectively. The data, which has been received in the research center, are very important to support and promote the remote sensing research activities for global environmental issues in Asia. Since the day of the establishment, many research and applications, which used these data, have been conducted. The data sets have been provided to researchers and users in many countries in the region to conduct research, to strengthen the research collaboration and education.

Characteristics of Korean Earthquakes and Research Activities for the Seismic Hazard Mitigation in Korea

  • Korea is not considered to be one of the safe zones for earthquakes any more. According to the records of the historical records and recent earthquake events in Korea, the possibillty of disastrous seismic hazards cannot be ignored, Korea Earthquake Engineering Research Center (KEERC) and Earthquake Engineering Society of Korea(EESK) have been established by that consensus. In this paper, historical earthquake records and seismicity in Korea are reviewed. And the research activities and the research system for the earthquake hazards mitigation of KEERC are introduced and the efforts of ESSK to renovate seismic design code system and to optimize the protection levels against earthquake disasters is explained.

A Controller Design for SRM using VHDL

  • SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor) has not been put into practical use since it has been developed in mid 19th centuries, but the switching element using semi-conductor was developed in 1950's which made possible to produce small size staffing motors. The research activities have been lively conducted regarding SRM since 1960's, nowadays, more research activities are being carried out focusing on developing small home appliances such as vacuum cleaners and washing machines. This thesis explains the study of controller design applied to SRM concept. This controller executes controller algorithms via $\mu$ - processor to increase stability and precise measurement, and VHDL (Very high speed integrated circuit Hardware Description Language) is designed to generate SRM driving signal.

Nurses′ Research Activities and Barriers of Research Utilization (임상 간호사들의 연구 관련 활동 실태 및 연구결과 활용의 장애 요인)

  • Purpose: This study was to describe nurses' research activities, perceptions and performances of evidence-based practice and barriers to the use of research evidence in nursing practice in Korea. Method: A cross-sectional survey design was used. A questionnaire, except for Barriers Scale, was developed for the study. Data was collected from a convenient sample of 437 registered nurses working at research and education oriented university hospitals. Result: Nurses' research-related activities were relatively low compared to previous studies. Also perceptions and performances of evidence based nursing practice were low. Preferred informational resources for clinical decision making were identified as ward manuals/clinical guidelines, manager/senior nurses, and literature/research. The major barriers to research utilization were a lack of implication for practice along with inadequate facilitation to implement research evidence and difficulty understanding research written in English. Priorities of barriers factor were Administrator, Communication, Adopter, and Research. Conclusion: The findings provide directions for future training, education, and managerial policy to achieve successful evidence based nursing practice.

  • Present paper introduces the research activities on fuel-air mixing and combustion of supersonic turbulent flows in scramjet combustor carried out in Aerospace Combustion and Propulsion Laboratory of the department of Aerospace Engineering of the Pusan national University. Also, an introduction will be given to the characteristics of the supercritical hydrocarbon fuel combustion in a practical scramjet engine and its numerical modeling approaches.
