  • The purpose of this study was to investigate changes to visual expressions in apartment sales ads in newspapers since the 2000s. For this purpose, the study compared and examined advertisements in 2010~2018 for their content. Apartment sales ads in the newspapers of Busan were analyzed according to the types of visual expressions and advertisement models. The brands(national and local brands) were categorized according to the types of visual expressions(copywriting-centric, visual-centric, and mixed ones) and whether an advertisement model was used or not(used and not used). The findings show that visual-centric ads were most used in apartment sales ads by national brands in 2010~2011 and recorded a higher usage rate by local brands during the same period. In 2017~2018, mixed forms of visual expressions were used more in the ads. The percentage of visual-centric ads made a considerable decrease among local brands. As for the use of advertisement models, most of the brands used one in 2010~2011, but advertisement models almost disappeared in apartment sales ads in 2017~2018. These differences were more prominent among local brands. The findings indicate that there were differences in expressive strategies in apartment sales ads among brands. The findings are expected to provide useful practical implications for the visual expression strategies of apartment sales ads.

  • Many of the non-communicable diseases, which are now the major causes of death and disability worldwide, can be linked to our lifestyles, and thus to what eat The life-style related risk factors are - to a great extent - preventable. Public health nutrition (PHN) policies are means through which govemments can have an enornous impact on the reduction of nutrition-related non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cancer and cardiovascular disease, by creating and supporting environments which enable healthier food choices and which are conducive to healthy nutrition behavior. More and more countries are developing nutrition policies. Nutrition policies are tools through which governments can intervene and control nutrition-related concerns throughout all levels of society. The need for more concerted action in the Republic of Korea is demonstrated, by showing the lack of priority for nutrition issues. Four recommendations for action are made; the first recommendation places emphasis on the need to implement a structure at the political level, through which nutrition concerns can be addressed, such as a nutrition unit within the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The second recommendation stresses the need for a strong nutrition advocacy strategy, to raise the awareness of the gains that can be achieved by promoting healthy nutrition. The third recommendation calls for more vigorous regulations and stricter enforcement of food and nutrition advertisement, and the fourth recommendation emphasizes the need for a settings-bsed approach to nutrition interventions. Acknowledging the developments that have already occurred in Korea, public health nutrition has yet to become a priority on the agenda of policy makers in Korea.

  • This research followed the major South Korean newspapers, Chosun, JoongAng, HanKyoreh and KyungHyang newspapers to study their relationship with advertisement - on how they use advertisement to what degree and which views they take, also looking into the quantity of advertisement. The results of analysis is as thus: first, the more advertised companies tended to have more news reports about them overall. Also, advertised companies were usually shown in positive light rather than a negative one. The most notable constructive commonality found in the positively advertised companies were that they were not usually introduced upfront through the title of the news article (or within the body of the article) but rather mentioned within the media frame. The reasons for this pattern in advertising is to make bias towards JoongAng which is obvious for pro companies, especially for the Chosun which is known for being neutral in most company matters even for the HanKyoreh, KyungHyang known for their usual negative attitude towards private companies.

But the interest is not just limited to students but to businesses. Until now five studies was made on this subject, and major findings of those dissertations are given to activating contest participation, corporate ethics and industrial-educational cooperation. It seems not enough to explain the over-heated phenomenon with the results, so that more research should be made on advertising contest. • Alcohol consumption is a major source of health problems, for example, alchol consumption is related to liver diseases. In addition, the social and economic costs related to alcohol consumption are enormous. This study was conducted to evaluate the current status and influencing factors related to the recognition and behavioral intention for both drinking and alcohol-reduction programs. Three effective alcohol-reduction programs of clinic program, mass education, and alliance were considered. To explain the health behavior for drinking and alcohol-reduction programs, a five-stage behavioral intention model was built and 500 questionnaires were completed through a telephone survey. Stages of the model composed of recognition of the programs, past experiences, present drinking status, intention for drinking, and behavioral intention for alcohol-reduction programs. As a result, recognition rates of the programs were low in general, therefore the strategies of education, public relations, and advertisement need to be pursued. The alcohol dependency resulted in the fact that success rate was 30% although trial rate of alcohol-reducing was 23%. The necessity of alcohol-reduction programs were suggested. In addition, significant factors related to the intention for alcohol-reducing were individual attitude and reluctancy to pay their time and money. An insignificant factor was the attitude to their alcohol-reduction by other people. Behavioral intention rates for alcohol-reducing clinics were 4%, and those for mass education were 8%. There were very low purchase rates for clinic program, mass education, and alliance. In conclusion, evidenced-based and effective alcohol-reduction programs need to be encouraged to drinkers by medical doctors, and the strategies of education, public relations, and advertisement are also recommended. In addition, continuing legal and systematic support for alcohol-reducing would lower the drinking rate and ultimately contribute to the nation's health promotion.

  • This study examined the effect of brand trait transference under the premise that if the public images of advertisement model have influences on the brand through advertisements, the brand image traits will also affect the advertisement model in reverse. For the external validity of the research, TV commercials as well as print Ads were made for this experiment with currently active real brands and real celebrity endorser through pre-test. Research was conducted with 8 groups which was designed 4 Ad exposure situations(1 control group & 3 brand Ads) X 2 models(celebrity vs non-celebrity). As a result, the effects of brand trait transference were more notably observed in the cases of a noncelebrity endorser than in celebrity endorser. All the brand image traits of selected brands in the experiment(good-natured, of high-class, energetic) were transferred to the noncelebrity endorser, while some selective traits were transferred to celebrity endorser who already had a solid public image.

  • This study empirically examined the influence of ownership structure(public/private) and revenue structure (high dependency on advertisement/low dependency on advertisement) of broadcasting companies upon journalists' perceptions regarding the degree of freedom in news reporting, the factors that limit freedom of press, satisfaction with the work autunomy and satisfaction with company's policies of news reporting and editing in light of resource dependency theory. The result showed that both the ownership structure and revenue structure of broadcasting companies influenced the journalists' perception regarding the degree of freedom in news gathering and reporting. It was also confirmed that only the revenue structure affected the level of satisfaction with work autonomy while the degree of satisfaction with the company's policies on editing and programing was influenced by the ownership structure. The perception of the factors that limit the freedom of press was found to be influenced only by the ownership structure, as did the satisfaction with policies on editing and programing. These results are very significant as they show that the level of dependence on advertising revenue affects journalists' news reporting, and that journalists of public broadcasting companies are influenced by the dependence on government or other political powers as well as on advertising revenue.
