  • With the development of pre-painted steel sheets for automotive body application, a new joining method is required such as hybrid joining with combination of adhesive bonding and mechanical joining. The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of pre- and post-baking of adhesive bonding on failure mode and strength of hybrid joining of automotive steel sheets. Experiments show that the hybrid joining exhibits better bonding strength and displacement than conventional adhesive joining and mechanical fastening each. Comparison of pre- and post-baked hybrid joining results suggested that baking at $160^{\circ}C$ after mechanical joining was found to have higher joining properties than pre-baking condition. The prebaking condition changed its fracture mode from interfacial to button fracture. The changes in fracture mode with post-baking of hybrid joining was attributed to variation in neck thickness and undercut of joint.

  • Study Design: Prospective randomized, double-blind controlled trial. Purpose: Here, we aim to compare the efficacy and safety of pain control between pre- and postoperative parecoxib administration in patients who have undergone major spine surgery. Overview of Literature: Several studies have compared the efficacy of pre- and postoperative administration of parecoxib, which led to inconclusive results owing to variation in operative time. Preincisional parecoxib administration reduces inflammatory response in major spine surgery requiring longer operative time; however, it may not reduce pain as much as parecoxib administration immediately after surgery would. Methods: Totally, 127 patients who underwent major spine surgery were randomly divided into three groups: pre-group, which received 40 mg parecoxib before skin incision and at 12 and 24 hours after the first dose; post-group, which received the same dose at wound closure and at 12 and 24 hours after the first dose; and control group, which did not receive any parecoxib. Efficacy and safety of parecoxib were measured based on pain score, morphine consumption, and side effects from both morphine and parecoxib at 24 hours after surgery. Results: Initial postoperative pain score, postoperative pain score at rest, and accumulative morphine consumption at 24 hours after surgery were similar between the pre- and post-groups. Despite the significantly lower pain score and morphine consumption in both pre- and post-groups compared with the control group, cumulative morphine consumption at 24 hours after surgery was reduced by approximately 50% in the pre-group and 46% in the post-group compared. Analgesic-related complication incidence was similar in all groups. Conclusions: The timing of parecoxib administration, either before or after major spinal surgery, did not affect the safety and analgesic efficacy of pain management.

But the objective evaluation of the speech change have been deficient. The experimental group was 25 adult males. Fourteen Korean consonants & after Korean vowels was combined and seventy sound was made for speech analysis. Before & after lingual frenectomy, the speech of the above mentioned group was recorded and then analysed by the Speech Workstation computer software. And before & after operation, the lingual frenum & tongue protrusion amount vas measured. The results were as follows : 1. The pre-operative length of lingual frenum was inverse proportion with the pre-operative length of the protrusive tongue. 2. The average difference between pre & post-operative length of the protrusive tongue was about 23 mm. 3. In the comparison of consonant continuing time change, fricative consonant(r, s, h) was increased post-operatively. 4. In the comparison of the vowel frequency formant change, the "i"and "u" sound vas reliably changed. 5. There was no reliable speech changes on the other sounds.

  • This study investigates whether the post-merger bad performance of merging firms was caused by the increase of cost and which cost is responsible for that, if it were. To do this, it is investigated whether there is any difference in terms of cost between pre-merger versus post-merger firms. Also the comparison of cost is used between merging firms and non-merging control groups. The finding is that the merging firms have a bigger cost than the non-merging control group and the post-merger firms have a bigger cost than the pre-merger firms. Especially labor cost to revenue and depreciation cost to revenue are statistically very different among them. Thus it is suggested that there are inefficiency of manpower and assets.
