  • This study looks at the social implications of gaming disorder by considering the situation in Korea. Focusing on specificity of game genres, this study analyzed two aspects of the game playing effect-positive(cognitive needs) and negative(game addiction)-and suggested directions for game regulation policies and game addiction studies, since game playing effects are closely related to game regulatory policy. To analyze game effects and attitudes to regulations, this study performed regression analysis based on the online survey. Results show that game playing effects and attitudes toward game regulation differ based on the nature of game genres. While longer gaming increased the effect of addiction, it also increased cognitive needs. Playing roleplaying, Aeon of Strife, and strategy game genres(RAS), which are subject to game regulation, increased game addiction levels but simultaneously contributed to increased cognitive needs. While playing augmented reality genres positively affected cognitive needs, it also showed favorable attitudes to general game regulation.

  • The objective of this paper is to systematically establish the development of game software through the fusion of game implementation and component methodology. The development of game software has inconsistently accomplished without the consistent frame for the analysis and design of game development in the domestic environments. Therefore in case of the development of game software based on game component, although a lot of resources were required in the initial the accumulation of experience and the technology of reuse lead to the efficiency of the maintenance ultimately.

  • The big difference of game scenario writers from ordinary scenario writers is the creativity of interactive game element. Game scenario writers should complete scenario form before making conti of game production, develop new item that is the essence of game and be able to write mulit-scenario for diverse story developments. Also, he should have the ability to advise on effective arrangement for sound effect to game designer.

  • Various 3D contents are being developed using Unity 3D game engine. In this paper, the 3D content of horseback riding game, the first VR game in the country, is designed and developed. The existing riding simulator is investigated and compared to the VR riding game developed. We consider various games developed using Unity 3D game engine and serve previously developed tangible games. It is expected that development of VR riding games will prepare a new chapter in VR experience-type games. We propose the content development environment and scenario of VR riding game and present the main algorithms and main modules for real-time synchronization. The developed riding game contents are deployed to the riding system and are operated for commercial use in conjunction with the riding device. Through monitoring VR riding system, problems are derived and improvement measures are proposed. We offer a variety of additional development options to make the game more realistic in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to design and apply a simple game that can visually experience basic concepts of game mathematics in order to teach game mathematics effectively. To do this, simple games linked with game mathematical theory are to be developed by utilizing the functions provided by Unity so that students could actively learn game mathematics. To demonstrate the plausibility of this approach, "Bouncing Ball Game" was developed to understand the concept of periodicity of trigonometric functions. As a result, students were able to effectively learn how mathematical concepts related to ball movements applied to the game.

  • The future of the game industry depends on developing contents. Especially a high level game needs all kinds of scenarios. Therefore, it is important to popularize writing game scenarios. Scientific scenario study is also needed to educate talented scenario writers and game designers. This is a case study on interactive elements of the game scenario, such as items, puzzles, and events. In conclusion, when these interactive elements becoming smoothly one parts of the game the game is now perfectly finished, rather than disturbing the process of the game story. I hope that this study is some helpful to game developers.

  • Function Point(FP) is well spread and advanced methodology in software costing. But FP is not common in game contents costing. It is one reason that Game Contents is a new area in software costing. And, ISO/IEC FDIS 19761(final draft) recommends not to use FP method in game contents costing. So we suggested new methodology in that area which is called Game Factor Point Method(GFPM). In this paper, we studied more about the weight of the game factor. We hope this will clarify them. We made definition of game factor, and studied more detail about Mission which was a little ambiguous in prior study. We also studied difficulties of game factor which will be a very important factor in game contents costing.

  • This paper introduces the implementation of runtime synchronization method when mobile network is broken during the game play. In case of network failure, the game is restored using the saved play record. Before the network failure, the previous game play is recorded in the server. The runtime synchronization is performed using the recorded game play in 2-times, 4-times, 8-times and 12-times according to the paused time and the game is played continuously. Using the proposed method, the user can play the mobile game uninterrupted. The project mobile game is implemented, and shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The game industry, which has been rapidly developing these days in Korean society, is a socially debated issue for the fact that some games are allegedly likely to stir up a speculative drive in people. Among others, the speculativeness of games has been paid more attention by game developers because of the prevalent belief in Korean society that basically games are gambling, which has been more consolidated by reported illegal activities committed by some users of illegal games. More disturbingly, if regulations are put on the act of gaming, not on some speculative games, the nature of games could be distorted and an unexpected adverse effect would arise as a result. This study examines the appropriateness and the effect of the current game regulation from a perspective of game developers and investigates how the regulation and its operation affect the change of the nature of games. The findings of this study are expected to bring about the deeper exploration of the effect of game regulation and broaden the view on the Korean game industry.
