  • In the IMT-2000 networks, the model of micro/pico cell is suggested for transmission of multimedia service. Hence, the efficient method is required for processing of mobile calls in micro/pico cell. In the central urban area, mobile calls may be dynamically increased because of many mobile users. And microcel]/picocell size has small size, handover calls will be more increased. Therefore, many of mobile calls is occurred at a cell in the central urban area, so channel requests for these calls will be increased in the call. In this paper, we propose a scheme, FTC(Fault Tolerant Channel allocation) which is the channel management method for hard handover and new call in a mobile cell of central urban area. When available channels in the cell are consumed, the FTC investigates channel states of neighbor cells in the RNC(Radio Network Controller) or BSC (Base Station Center), and provide available channel for mobile call. The ]no scheme is analyzed and compared with existing channel management method by simulation.

  • In this study, asolid-state laser system adopting a firing time control(FTC) method in which three flashlamps are turned on consecutively was designed and fabricated to examine the pulse width and the pulse shape of the laser beams depending upon the changes in the lamp turn-on time. That is, this study shows a technology that makes it possible to make various pulse shapes by turning on three flashlamps consecutively on a real-time basis with the aid of a PIC one-chip microprocessor With this technique, the lamp turn-on delay time can be varied more diversely from 0 to 10 ms and the real-time control is possible with an external keyboard enabling various pulse shapes. In addition longer pulses can be more widely used for industrial processing and lots of medical purposes.

  • Antioxidative properties of fifteen anthraquinone derivatives, including eleven atural anthraquinones isolated from the roots of Morinda elliptica and four from synthetic origin were evaluated using thin layer chromatography (TLC), ferric thiocyanate (FTC) and thiobarbituric acid (TBA) methods. Five of the compounds, nordamnacanthal, damnacanthal, 2-formyl-1-hydroxyanthraquinone, morindone and alizarin showed higher antioxidative activity than standard natural antioxidant, ${\alpha}-tocopherol$, on the FTC assay. Morindone and alizarin showed the strongest antioxidant activity. The results from the bioassay using TBA method correlated well with the results of the FTC method.

  • This paper presents a new approach with meso scale structure models to express mechanical property, such as stress - strain relationships, of concrete. This approach is successful to represent both uniaxial tension and uniaxial compression stress - strain relationship, which is in macro scale. The meso scale approach is also applied to predict degraded mechanical properties of frost-damaged concrete. The degradation of mechanical properties with frost-damaged concrete was carefully observed. Strength and stiffness in both tension and compression decrease with freezing and thawing cycles (FTC), while stress-free crack opening in tension softening increases. First attempt shows that the numerical simulation can express the experimentally observed degradation by introducing changes in the meso scale structure in concrete, which are assumed based on observed damages in the concrete subjected to FTC. At the end applicability of the meso scale approach to prediction of the degradation by combined effects of salt attack and FTC is discussed. It is shown that clarification of effects of frost damage in concrete on corrosion progress and on crack development in the damaged cover concrete due to corrosion is one of the issues for which the meso scale approach is useful.

  • This paper describes a fast tool control (FTC)-based diamond turning process for fabricating large-area high-quality micro-lens arrays. The developed FTC unit has a stroke of $48{\mu}m$ and a resonance frequency of 4.9 kHz. Micro-lens arrays were fabricated using a micro-cutting tool with a nose radius of $50{\mu}m$. The FTC unit was integrated with a force sensor so that the initial position of the micro-cutting tool with respect to the workpiece surface could be detected through monitoring the contacting force. The length and depth of the designed parabolic micro-lens profile were $190{\mu}m$ and $20{\mu}m$, respectively. A micro-lens array was fabricated on a cylinder surface over an area of ${\phi}55 mm{\times}40 mm$.

  • This study investigates the present conditions of hospital clothes management. A survey was conducted with 72 respondents from 28 different hospitals in April and May 2009. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and correlations using PASW 17.0. The results were as follows: (1) Administrators, nurses, and outside specialists took part in the clothes management process. The administrators participated in the process of purchase determination. Nurses involved in the design, size selection, and outside specialists were responsible for routine management. (2) Most clothes were planned through the discussions between hospitals and manufacturers. Price was the most important element to determine the purchase of clothes. Size systems were various depending on the conditions of the hospital according to the number of beds. (3) Laundry duties were performed by the hospitals themselves or in specialized laundry plants. In addition, the hygienic condition of clothes management were satisfactory. (4) Patient gowns were evaluated positively, yet some complaints from patients were reported. (5) Various medical supplies were used and were uncomfortable related to textile and fitting problems. Future research themes are suggested based on these results.

  • Purpose: In this paper, we have dealt with problems and the improvement proposals of FTC (FAIR TRADE COMMISSION) report which insist on relaxed entry regulation for an optical shop. Methods: We analyzed each content of the FTC (FAIR TRADE COMMISSION) report which argue relaxed entry regulation for an optical shop. Results: At present, the supply of optician and optical shop are already saturated, the overseas cases cited would not be in accord with our reality. The reform of policy must take precedence in order to carry out the policy. A delicate balancing act is needed in order to satisfy both the government's and optician's needs. Conclusions: At this point, it is premature to carry out the relaxed entry regulation, this policy should be looked from a long-term point of view.

  • An observer-based fault tolerant control (FTC) method is proposed for constrained switched systems (CSS) with input constraints. A family of Lyapunov-based bounded controllers are designed to ensure that, whenever actuator faults occur at the dwell time period of each continuous mode, the mode is always within its corresponding stability region. A set of switching laws are designed to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the overall CSS. The fixed stability regions on which the FTC method is based are also relaxed by the proposed variable stability regions. An example of CPU processing illustrates the effectiveness of proposed method.

  • Follicular thyroid cancer(FTC) accounts for about 10-15% of thyroid cancer. Distant metastasis is common, usually to lung, bone and brain. 71-years-old man visited neurosurgery outpatient department. He complained of recent 6kg weight loss, left upper extremity pain with weakness and back pain. The radiologic findings showed multiple bone metastasis including thoracic spine and left scapular resulting from FTC. There was a probable brain metastatic lesion on right temporal fossa. The core biopsy of thyroid and thoracic spine(T11) confirmed metastatic follicular carcinoma. Radioactive iodine therapy and radiotherapy was done following total thyroidectomy. We report a unique case of multiple bone metastasis from follicular carcinoma of thyroid with literature review.
