Development of the Expert System for Guiding Japanese Style Food Menu (일식 메뉴 안내용 전문가 시스템의 개발)

  • A computer expert system for guiding Japanese style meal menu has been developed by using EXSYS Professional which is one of expert system developing software tools. The expert system nunderstands the situations of clients, and can guide the menu as human experts do by its software program with expert knowledge about the meal menu. In developing the expert system, the elements the clients consider when selecting menu were arranged as questions of the expert system, and the final outcome of the expert system resulted in selecting the final menu appropriate for the client demand, weather, health, etc. In hotel, the expert system can be shared by whole restaurants, and be directly a computer guider to the clients to tell the best choice of the menu. Besides, it can be used for various kinds of bangquets and events. Expert system has been developed and studied by business managers, manufactures, medical fields, and military field. But the studies for applying the expert system in the fields of foods have been scare. Through this study, therefore, the expert system is going to be applied more widely in many fields fo food events.

A study on the expert system for classification of books (분류전문가시스팀에 관한 연구)

  • This study is an attempt to provide some helpful data for the design and the implementation of the expert system for the book-classification based on the analysis of various cases of the classification-expert system models. Following the introduction, the concepts and some features of an expert system were overviewed in the second chapter, on the basis of which the following concrete cases were introduced and analyzed in the third chapter : (1) ACN System for NC, (2) Expert System for NDC, (3) Expert System for UDC, (4) Herba Medica System, (5) Expert System for IPC, (6) Stratcyclode Project, (7) Expert System for Classification of INIS Database, (8) AutoBC System, and etc. In the conclusion, for the development of the classification-expert system, it was turned out that constructing a new system by using an AI language such as Prolog or LISP is more desirable than employing any one of expert system shells. Together it is necessary for the following requirements to be met : (1) The subject concept of a document elicited should be accurate. (2) Not only a domain knowledge but also the knowledge covering all the subjects should be represented in the knowledge-bases. (3) The knowledge-bases should be organized in such a way that the characteristics of the knowledge about classification should be well defined. (4) rule-base consisting of accurate rules about classification should be made. (5) It should be possible for classification code wanted to be generated immediately.

  • The summary of this paper is as follows. The literature on existing expert system maintenance software technique are reviewed in Module program, a case of assembly line process problem at construction industry and planning expert system to solve this problem at construction as a standard configured process system are discussed. the regenerative expert system approach for the construction process expert system and its example for the assembly line construction process appear in the research also, this paper shows the architecture and some feature of the CES.(Construction Expert System), which is a prototype implemented for the regenerative expert system approach. the paper introduce the framework of the regenerative expert approach as a general framework of developing and maintaining a large-scale expert systems.

An Expert System for Estimation of Fatigue Properties of Metallic Materials using Simple Tensile Data (금속재료의 피로특성 추정을 위한 전문가시스템)

  • An expert system for estimation of fatigue properties from simple tensile data of material is developed, considering nearly all important estimation methods proposed so far, i.e., 7 estimation methods. The expert system is developed using an expert system shell, UNIK, and the knowledge base is constructed with production rules and frames. Forward chaining is employed as a reasoning method. The expert system has three major functions including the function to update the knowledge base. The performance of the expert system is tested using the 54 ${\sigma}-N$ curves consisting of 381 ${\sigma}-N$ data points obtained for 22 materials. It is found that the expert system developed has excellent performance especially for steel materials, and reasonably good for titanium alloys.

  • The paper is concerned with application to develop the expert system, which structural analysis and design process for tower cranes. The system is organized into three groups. One is pre-processor for creating input data files, another is `model former' which combines knowledge-base with inference engine for automatic generating structural analysis models, a third is application group for final analysis checks. In this study, geometric subroutine of `model former' designates node positions, nodes, elements numbers and element types. Load data subroutine computes weight of tower crane and device, slewing force, cargo load, wind force form rules or equations in knowledge-base. Also, Property and boundary subroutine applies element properties and boundary conditions to suitable elements and nodes. Design and analysis expert system for tower crane integrates these subroutine, `model former' and pre-processor. RBR(Rule-Base Reasoning) was adopted for a reasoning strategy of this expert system. And this expert system can produce structural analysis model and data, which can be used in ordinary structural analysis program (SAP, ADINA or NASTRAN, etc.). In this paper, this expert system produces format of the analysis model data, which are used in MSC/NASTRAN. The main discussions included in the paper are introduction of the tower crane and structural analysis, composition of the design expert system for tower crane and structural analysis using the expert system.

  • A knowledge based expert system is a computer program that emulates the reasoning process of a human expert in a specific problem domain. This paper presents an expert system to diagnose the various faults in power system. The developed expert system is represented considering two points; the possibility of solution and the fast processing speed. As uncertainties exist in the facts and rules which comprise the knowledge base of the expert system, Certainty Factor, which is based on the confirmation theory is used for the inexact reasoning. Also, as the diagnosis problem requires the inductive reasoning process in nature, the solution is imperfect and not unique in general. So the expert system is designed to generate all the possible hypothesis in order of the possibility and also it can explain the propagation procedure of the faults for each solution using the built in backtracking mechanism. In realization of the expert system, the processing speed is greatly dependent upon the problem representation, reasoning scheme and search strategy. So, in this paper the fault diagnosis problem itself is analysed from the view point of Artificial Intelligence and as a result, the expert system has the following basic features. 1) The certainty factor is adopted in the inference engine for inexact reasoning. 2) Problem apace is represented using the problem reduction technique. 3) Bidirectional reasoning scheme is used. 4) Best first search strategy is adopted for rapid processing.   • In farm management, many factors should be considered to select optimum farm machinery Some factors such as fm size can be quantified, but other factors such as working experience can not be. Futhermore, as several factors are missed and assumptions are made for the selection using conventional computer programs, the result is sometimes questionable. This problem can be solved using artificial intelligent techniques such as expert system. In this study, an expert system was developed to select optimum machinery by considering available working days, machinery to on, farming environments, labor cost, population, etc. It also took into account the characteristics of machinery, turning radius, easiness of operation, subsidy, loan to purchase, asset. farmers age, Rest Metabolic Rate, and working experience, etc. Expertise and experience of human experts were utilized to develop the expert system. The developed expert system was evaluated by the human experts and others, and it was proved to be practically useful fir farmers.

  • This paper presents a fault diagnosis expert system for 765kV substation. The proposed system includes the topology processor and intelligent alarm processing subsystems. This expert system estimates the fault section through the inference process using heuristic knowledge and the output of topology processor and intelligent alarm processing system. The rule-base of this expert system is composed of basic rules suggested by Korea Electric Power Corporation and heuristic rules. This expert system is developed using PROLOG language. Also, user friendly Graphic User Interface is developed using visual basic programming in the windows XP environment. The proposed expert system showed a promising performance through the several case studies.
