  • QoS support for the Internet traffic becomes an important future requirement of various network devices such as routers and switches. Differentiated Services(Diffserv) is considered as an efficient feasible solution for providing different service characteristics to different classes of network users. IETF Diffserv working group has already defined a general architecture of Diffserv and is extending its detail features. Network vendors also start implementing Diffserv enabled network devices. However, the management of Diffserv is not fully standardized yet. This paper, we present methods of traffic flow control in Diffserv Networks. we have designed a Diffserv Traffic Control system.

  • 현재의 인터넷은 트래픽의 양적 증가뿐 아니라 다양한 응용 수용이라는 질적인 측면의 문제에 봉착했다. 이를 수용하기 위해서 Diffserv 개념이 도입되었으며, 본 논문에서는 프로그램 가능한 네트워크 프로세서 IXP1200를 이용하여 간단한 Diffserv Interior­node PHB의 설계를 통하여 CoS(Class of Service)를 지원하는 Diffserv를 설계하고 구현하였다.

  • 변화하는 인터넷 환경에서의 005 보장은 빼놓을 수 없는 중요한 과제로 각종 제안들이 나오고 있다. 본 논문에서는 IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force)에서 제안한 Diffserv 네트워크에서 Host-to-Host의 QoS 보장에 관하여 다루었으며, DSCP(Differentiated Service Codepoint)값의 설정을 Edge Router가 아닌 Host에서 수행하여 경계라우터의 Traffic 부하를 줄이고, MWRR2(Modified Weighted Round Robin Mode2) 방식의 스케줄링을 통해 더욱더 향상된 Diffserv network에서의 Host-to-Host QoS를 제공하는 것이 목적이다. 본 논문은 IETF에서 제안된 Diffserv 방식과 본 논문에서 제안된 Diffserv 방식의 효율성 입증을 위하여, ns2 시뮬레이션을 사용하여, 비교 분석하였다.

Distributed QoS Monitoring and Edge-to-Edge QoS Aggregation to Manage End-to-End Traffic Flows in Differentiated Services Networks

  • The Differentiated Services (Diffserv) framework has been proposed by the IETF as a simple service structure that can provide different Quality of Service (QoS) to different classes of packets in IP networks. IP packets are classified into one of a limited number of service classes, and are marked in the packet header for easy classification and differentiated treatments when transferred within a Diffserv domain. The Diffserv framework defines simple and efficient QoS differentiation mechanisms for the Internet. However, the original Diffserv concept does not provide a complete QoS management framework. Since traffic flows in IP networks are unidirectional from one network point to the other and routing paths and traffic demand get dynamically altered, it is important to monitor end-to-end traffic status, as well as traffic status in a single node. This paper suggests a distributed QoS monitoring method that collects the statistical data of each service class in every Diffserv router and calculates edge-to-edge QoS of the aggregated IP flows by combining routing topology and traffic status. A format modeling of edge-to-edge Diffserv flows and algorithms for aggregating edge-to-edge QoS is presented. Also an SNMP-based QoS management prototype system for Diffserv networks is presented, which validates our QoS management framework and demonstrates useful service management functionality.

  • Study for VoIP in MANET is mainly focused on transmission performance or voice quality of VoIP traffic as single traffic. In this study, VoIP performance is analyzed of MANET which has several types of traffics. Diffserv scheme is used to process the traffics. It is showed that VoIP traffic performance is improved by differv scheme, as a result of analysis for VoIP and FTP traffic. Simulator, which is implemented with NS-2 package and VoIP patch, is used.

  • In this paper, we implement a diffserv-capable router on the linux system and evaluate its performance. The router supports the packet marking for the input finks that is different from the previous implementation. The edge diffserv-capable router can guarantee the performance of each class, even in a congested condition. We compare the performance of the diffserv-capable router with that of the normal router in terms of PDBs (per domain behaviors), which are defined with traffic conditioning rules and PHBs (per hop behaviors).

  • Traditional Internet services provide the same level of qualify to all users without considering about their application's QoS (quality of service) requirements. Because the wireless and Internet technologies are evolving rapidly, the powerful mobile devices are more widely used. Therefore, the new applications such as DMB (digital multimedia broadcasting), VoD (video on demand), telemedicine, and etc. demand appropriate QoS and host mobility. To satisfy free mobility and QoS, we deploy Diffserv (differentiated services) model to the mobile IPv6 networks. We propose the operational procedures and cost analyzing models for providing an MN's mobility and QoS. Also its performance is presented by cost analyzing and the future works are described.

  • As a way to overcome the problems that when you transmit data to and receive data from End Device to participate in the GRID network, QoS has not been, GARA supports the Diffserv system basically. However, the problem when it is assumed settings related to the Diffserv between the ISP and the ISP is wrong with each other, that it is not possible to receive a complete QoS services began to appear. In this paper, we tried to overcome these drawbacks, in networks based GARA the (Globus Architecture for Reservation and Allocation), using the SLA (Service Level Agrement) server, was treated in the highest priority to the data, the ISP there is provided a method for setting the Diffserv the ISP is even wrong and, using the TOS of the IP header, to solve this, it is described about the direction of future research.

  • BE(Best-Effort)방식의 인터넷에서 제공되던 Text위주의 서비스 제공 방식이 Multimedia 위주의 서비스로 점차 바뀌어 감에 따라, 기존의 BE(Best-Effort)방식으로는 Multimedia QoS(Quality of Service)를 보장하기가 어려워졌다. 이에 IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force)에서는 변화하는 인터넷 환경에서 QoS 보장을 위해 Diffserv(Differentiated Service)방식을 제안하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 Content를 제공하는 Linux Web Server에서 패킷을 클래스 분류기준(Classification Method)에 의해 분류하고 Scheduling Algorithm을 적용하여 DSCP(Differentiated Service CodePoint) 값을 Web Server 자체에서 결정하여 경계라우터(Edge Router)로 전송하는 방식을 취하였으며, 이를 토대로 하여 경계라우터의 Traffic 부하를 줄이고, 경계라우터의 코어라우터(Core Router)화를 통해 더욱더 향상된 Differentiated Service를 제공하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 본 논문에서는 ns2 를 통해 IETF에서 제안된 Diffserv방식과 본 논문에서 제안한 방식의 Diffserv 방식과 현재의 BE방식을 비교하여 어느 정도의 성능 향상이 있었는지 비교 분석하였다.

  • GPRS/UMTS 망에서 터널링 프로토콜인 GTP(GPRS Tunneling Protocol)는 QoS를 고려하지 않는 단순한 GSN(GTP Support Node)의 터널링 기법이 적용되고 있다. 즉 모든 트래픽에 대해서 동일만 터널링 기법이 적용되고 있으므로 피부 망에서 입력되는 트래픽에 대한 QoS를 보장하기가 어렵다. 따라서, QoS 제어가 가능한 인터넷 망(RSVF, Diffserv)과 연동(interwotking)이 가능하면서 외부 망의 트래픽을 GPRS 망에 받아들여 효율적으로 처리할 수 있는 GGSN 노드의 트래픽 QoS 제어 메커니즘에 대해 이 연구되어져야 한다. 본 논문에서는 GPRS/UMTS망에서 클래스별 패킷 트래픽 처리의 성능향상을 위해서 망의 게이트웨이 역할을 담당하는 GGSN에서 I)iffserv edge function을 할 경우에 실시간 트래픽의 QoS보장을 위한 클래스별 트래픽 제어 방법에 대해 분석하였다.
