  • In this paper, a novel compact microstrip-fed antenna with band-rejection characteristic for wideband applications is proposed. By cutting an L-shaped notch on the radiation patch, the wideband property for the proposed antenna is achieved. In addition, a C-shaped slot is introduced to obtain the band rejection operation of the antenna. The antenna, with very small size of $15.5\times21 mm^2$ including the ground plane, operates over 3.08 to 10.97 GHz and has the rejection band of 5.03 to 5.91 GHz for $S_{11}$ < -10 dB.

  • In this paper, a design method to obtain a band rejection characteristic in the 2.4-2.484 GHz WLAN band is studied for a series-fed dipole pair (SDP) antenna operating in the band of 1.7-2.7 GHz for mobile communication base station applications. The band rejection characteristic is achieved by inserting U-shaped slots on the coplanar strip line connecting the two dipole elements of the SDP antenna. The effects of the location and dimension of the slots on the rejection band characteristics are examined. The optimized SDP antenna with WLAN band rejection is fabricated on an FR4 substrate and the experimental results show that the antenna has a desired band rejection performance with a frequency band of 1.65-2.78 GHz (51.0%) for a VSWR < 2, and a rejection band of 2.39-2.54 GHz.

  • In this paper, a compact antenna with band-rejected characteristic for Ultra-Wideband(UWB) applications is proposed. The designed antenna not only shows sufficient impedance bandwidth but has band-rejected characteristic for the frequency band of 5.15~5.825GHz limited by IEEE 802.11a and HIPERLAN/2. To obtain both properties of wideband band rejection, the techniques of a partial ground plane and embedded thin U-slot into planar radiator are used respectively. A designed antenna satisfied a VSWR less than 2:1 for the frequency band of 3.1~10.3GHz with band rejection of 4.90~5.92GHz.

  • In this paper, a design of multi-layered BPF(bandpass filter) using LTCC(Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) process by a lumped-elements is proposed for SOP(system-on-a-chip) of wireless communication systems. The proposed BPF improved a characteristic of rejection band to build an attenuation pole caused by structurally adjacent co-inductance and coupling. The simulation data shows a bandwidth of 90MHz from a center frequency of 2.4GHz, a return loss of 27dB, an insertion loss of 3.2dB, and an attenuation of at least 20dBc at $f_0{\pm}250MHz$. Simulations have used serenade circuit simulation and HFSS EM simulation.

  • In this paper, a UWB antenna using a SIR(Step Impedance Resonator) that eliminate signal interference at 5 GHz WLAN as the first rejection band and adjust the second rejection band is proposed. Unlike the unit impedance resonator, the second harmonic of SIR is decided according to step impedance. Therefore, To adjust the second rejection band, SIR is applied to UWB antenna. Also, the equivalent circuit of the antenna at first rejection band is presented and the equivalent modeling values of the SIR and the coupling value is obtained. The proposed antenna is satisfied to cover full UWB band with return losses less than -10 dB and has band rejection characteristic in 5 GHz WLAN band. The radiation patterns show +y directivity characteristics in H-plane and the group delay variations are within 1.0 ns.

  • This paper presents a slot-shaped defected ground structure(DGS) which has multi-band rejection property. The proposed structure, in which the spiral slot-shaped defects with different size are aligned in the transverse direction to the guiding direction of the coplanar waveguide(CPW), provides multiple resonance frequencies. Compared with the simulated results, the band rejection characteristic is in good agreement with the measurement. Also, an equivalent circuit model of the proposed structure is presented, where the DGS on the ground plane is modeled as LC-resonators. This resonators are inductively coupled to the signal line through mutual inductance. From the equivalent circuit model, multi-band rejection property was derived.

  • In this paper, a CPW band-pass filter with a rejection band is proposed for UWB(Ultra-Wideband) communication systems. The proposed filter has a band-pass characteristic of wide-band by inserting only a slot in $50{\Omega}$ transmission line. To obtain the band-rejection function at WLAN frequency band($5.15{\sim}5.725GHz$), the designed filter is combined with folded slot resonators on the ground plane of the CPW structure. The fabricated CPW band-pass filter shows a compact size of $15.35{\times}13.60mm$, a wide passband of 2.8 GHz to 9.8 GHz and the narrow stop-band of 5.15 GHz to 5.71 GHz for 3-dB bandwidth. Also, the measured group delay is less than 400 psec throughout the operation frequency band except the rejection band.

  • A planar UWB antenna using partial ground and CPW feeding is designed and fabricated. We obtained the return loss of average -8.2 dB in Low Band ($3.1\;GHz{\sim}4.8\;GHz$) and the good band rejection characteristic in the range of $4.9\;GHz{\sim}6.8\;GHz$. The simulation results by HFSS are seen to be in good agreement with the measured results.

  • A compact ultra-wide band antenna with a quadruple band-notched characteristic is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a slotted trapezoid patch radiator, an inverted U-shaped band stop filter, a pair of C-shaped band stop filters, and a rectangular ground plane. To realize the quadruple notch-band characteristic, a U-shaped slot, a complementary split ring resonator, an inverted U-shaped band stop filter, and two C-shaped band stop filters are utilized in this antenna. The antenna satisfies the -10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth requirement in the frequency band of 2.88-12.67 GHz, with a band-rejection characteristic in the WiMAX (3.43-3.85 GHz), WLAN (5.26-6.01 GHz), X-band satellite communication (7.05-7.68 GHz), and ITU 8 GHz (8.08-8.87 GHz) signal bands. In addition, the proposed antenna has a compact volume of $30mm{\times}33.5mm{\times}0.8mm$ while maintaining omnidirectional patterns in the H-plane. The experimental and simulated results of the proposed antenna are shown to be in good agreement.
