Processing Korean Passives for Database Semantics (데이터베이스 의미론을 위한 한국어 피동형의 전산적 처리)

  • Hausser (1999)와 이기용 (1999a, 1999c)에서는 데이터베이스 관리 시스템(DBMS)을 이용하여 자연언어의 의미를 다루는 데이터베이스 의미론을 제안하였다. 특히 이기용 (1999c)에서는 수형도(tree), 논리 형태(logical fomulas), 자질 구조(feature structure)와 같은 다양한 언어 표상 형식들을 관계형 데이터베이스 관리 시스템(RDBMS)의 표상 형식인 테이블 형식으로 전환 가능함을 보임으로써 데이터베이스 의미론에 관계형 데이터 베이스 관리 시스템을 도입할 수 있음을 제시하였다. 한편, Lee (2000)에서 제시한 데이터베이스 의미론 모형에서는 데이터베이스 관리 시스템과 사용자(end-user)를 연결하는 언어 정보 처리 시스템(LIPS; Linguistic Information Processing System)을 제안하였다. 이 언어정보 처리 시스템은 사용자에 의해 입력된 언어 자료를 처리하여 그 분석 결과를 데이터베이스 관리 시스템에 전달하고, 이를 통해 구축된 데이터베이스에서 추출한 정보를 다시 사용자에게 전달하는 시스템이다. 이 논문은 한국어 '이, 히, 리, 기' 피동형을 전산처리를 할 수 있도록, 데이터베이스 의미론에서 핵심 요소인 언어정보 처리 시스템과 데이터베이스 관리 시스템을 구현하는 것 이 목적이다.

  • Construction projects heavily rely on construction engineers competency, and instant judgment and problem solving ability against unpredictable situation directly affect the success of construction project. Therefore in order to hire construction engineers that are competent to lead construction projects successfully, the construction engineer competency evaluation is essential from the selection process. Hence, this research proposed items to assess the operation competency of construction engineers by deducing influence factors necessary to measure operation competency via interviews with experts and applying the factors. After conducting survey questionnaire utilizing analytic hierarchy process(AHP) for the proposed operation competency measurement items, weighted values were assigned.

Factor Analysis of TQM in Medical Library (의학도서관의 총체적 질 관리(TQM) 요인분석)

  • The paper examined and analyzed the factors affecting TQM in Medical libraries. The questionnaire was used for collecting data and the ANOVA and T-TEST were used for analyzing data. The results showed that librarians positively recognize the need of TQM in Medical libraries. However, the results showed that library system needs to improve the reward system for effective performance of the work. Finally, this study showed that librarians need to be well-qualified person as a professional with the CEO of strong leadership for successful TQM.

  • The core of accreditation for engineering education is to improve the ability and quality of graduates through CQI system based on outcomes. For the program outcomes of the engineering education accreditation criterion, it is necessary to understand the relationship among education assessment, objective and curriculum. This study has focused on the program outcomes and the assessment. First the measure for improving the general problems of the program outcomes associated with assessment tool have been stated. And the detailed measure for practicing the program outcome, the assessment system and the assessment tool, which makes use of Rubrics, have been discussed. Therefore it is expected that the program outcome and the assessment may be conducted at universities with the assessment tool established in this study.

  • This paper introduces a novel way to leverage convolution parse tree kernel to extract the interaction information between two proteins in a sentence without multiple features, clues and complicated kernels. Our approach needs only the parse tree alone of a candidate sentence including pairs of protein names which is potential to have interaction information. The main contribution of this paper is two folds. First, we show that for the PPI, it is imperative to execute parse tree pruning removing unnecessary context information in deciding whether the current sentence imposes interaction information between proteins by comparing with the latest existing approaches' performance. Secondly, this paper presents that tree kernel decay factor can play an pivotal role in improving the extraction performance with the identical learning conditions. Consequently, we could witness that it is not always the case that multiple kernels with multiple parsers perform better than each kernels alone for PPI extraction, which has been argued in the previous research by presenting our out-performed experimental results compared to the two existing methods by 19.8% and 14% respectively.

  • This paper presents an efficient determination method of thematic roles from syntactic relations using rules and statistical model in Korean language processing. This process is one of the main core of semantic analysis and an important issue to be solved in natural language processing. It is problematic to describe rules for determining thematic roles by only using general linguistic knowledge and experience, since the final result may be different according to the subjective views of researchers, and it is impossible to construct rules to cover all cases. However, our hybrid method is objective and efficient by considering large corpora, which contain practical usages of Korean language, and case frames in the Sejong Electronic Lexicon of Korean, which is being developed by dozens of Korean linguistic researchers. To determine thematic roles more correctly, our system uses syntactic relations, semantic classes, morpheme information, position of double subject. Especially by using semantic classes, we can increase the applicability of our system.

  • 인터넷이 대중화됨에 따라 누구나 쉽게 자신의 의견을 온라인상에 표현할 수 있게 되었다. 그 결과 생각이나 느낌을 나타내는 의견 데이터들의 양이 급속도로 방대해졌으며, 이러한 데이터들을 이용한 여러 응용 사례들의 등장으로, 효율적인 검색 및 자동 분류 기술이 요구되고 있다. 이런 기술적 흐름에 맞추어 의견 데이터 분류에 관한 여러 연구들이 이루어져 왔다. 이러한 의견 분류에 대한 연구들을 살펴보면, 분류를 위해 자질(Feature)로서 사용한 단일어(Single word)가 아닌 2개 이상의 N-gram 단어, 어휘 구문 패턴 및 통사 구문 패턴 등을 사용한다. 특히, 패턴은 단일어나 N-gram 단어에 비해 유연하고, 언어학적으로 풍부한 정보를 표현할 수 있기 때문에 이를 주요 연구 주제로 사용되었다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 이러한 연구들은 주로 영어에 대한 연구들이었으며, 한국어에 패턴을 적용하여 주관성을 갖는 문장을 분류하거나, 극성을 분류하는 연구들은 아직 미비하다. 한국어의 특색으로 한국어는 용언의 활용이 발달되어 있어, 어미의 변화가 다양하며, 그 변화에 따라 의미가 미묘하게 변화한다. 그러나 기존 한국어에 대한 의견 분류 연구들은 단어의 핵심 의미만을 파악하기 위해 어미 부분을 제거하고 어간만을 취해서 처리하여 어미에 대한 의미변화를 고려하지 못하므로 분류 정확도가 영어권에 연구 결과에 비해 떨어진다. 그래서 본 연구는 영어에 적용된 패턴을 이용한 기존 방법들을 정리하고, 그 방법들 중에서 극성을 지닌 문장성분 패턴을 한국어에 적용하였다. 그리고 어미의 변화에 대한 패턴을 추출하여 이 변화가 의견 분류의 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

  • VTM is regarded as a core element in e-Navigation under developing by IMO. IMO's e-Navigation aims for VTM which could provide more navigational information for ships and provide more active VTS services for safe and efficient marine traffic environment. To be successful for VTM under e-Navigation, VTS operator's experience and ability for carrying out VTM tasks are essential. In this study, Decision-making support system for VTS operators are designed conceptually which support VTS operators' VTM tasks by providing informations on traffic risk, and predicted behaviour of ships. This paper describes a designed system with design concept, main functions, main elements and necessary technologies to be developed.

  • Because mass of activity records of individuals and organizations are accumulated in the digital space and amount of information is also increasing exponentially, the most urgent requirements of users is the tool for 'efficient' acquisition of 'useful' information. This paper try digital convergence to combine a domain specific technology with real time issue detection and grouping based on Web media. To derive core functionalities, we collect and analyze user requirements of national defense issue detection services. By utilizing linguistic resources specialized on national defence area and discovering features for measuring issue importance, we try to seek differentiation domain specific issue detection method. Finally we compare our detection results based on the development outputs of prototype.
