A Study on the Effects of Integrated Art Therapy to Improve the Self-Esteem of the Children who Experienced Domestic Violence (가정폭력을 경험한 아동의 자아존중감 향상을 위한 통합예술치료의 효과성 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of integrated art therapy on the self-esteem of children who experienced domestic violence. In order to find out whether there is an effect, we used the nonparametric statistic as a quantitative study to verify the difference of self-esteem. In qualitative research, I used the dynamic familyization, sentence completion test, program report, feedback journal, and observation log from researcher and assistant therapist so as to get the deep understanding of their inner world. This study conducted a trauma test for 49 children in grades 4-6 from one elementary school in a city of Jeollabukdo Province. As a result, there was a significant increase in total self-esteem including their social life. family life, and school life after the program was implemented. Also, integrated art therapy promoted general perception and specific perception of self, which affected total self - esteem, social self - esteem, family self - esteem, and school self-esteem. So, it improves the self-esteem of children who have experienced domestic violence, In order to improve peer relations and interpersonal relations, if integrated art therapy is carried out in schools or institutions in the future, it will be possible to reduce social cost and distance.

The Mediating Effects of Self-esteem on the Relationship between Economic Level and Teaching Efficacy : Focused on Early Childhood Preservice Teacher (경제적 수준과 교수효능감의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과: 예비유아교사를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation on the relationship between economic level, self-esteem and teaching efficacy first, and then to investigate the mediating effects of self-esteem on the relationship between economic level and teaching efficacy. The subjects of this study were 457 students who attend two collages in Incheon and all of them were majoring in early childhood education. The collected data were analyzed through SPSS Window program. Correlation analysis and Multiple regression analysis were conducted. Results showed the there were correlation among economic level, self-esteem and teaching efficacy. Also there were mediating effects of self-esteem on the relationship between economic level and personal teaching efficacy. As a whole the result of this study showed the teaching efficacy of early childhood preservice teacher were more influenced by self-esteem than by economic level. The implication of the result were discussed with the necessity of curriculum development to improve the student's self-esteem.

The Relations of Child's and Parent's Self-Esteem and Child's Career Maturity: Focused on Multi-Group Path Analysis by Gender (초등학교 고학년 자녀와 부모의 자아존중감이 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향: 자녀의 성별에 따른 다집단 경로분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how children's and parent's self-esteem relates to children's career maturity. Furthermore, this study explored how their influences would differ depending on gender. Data from 302 elementary school students in grades 4, 5, and 6 who participated in the 10th year survey (2015) were analyzed to verify structural relationships including multi-group path analysis by gender. Results were as follows: First, children's self-esteem (${\beta}=.519$, p<.001) statistically significant positive influences their career maturity as well as their father's (${\beta}=.247$, p<.01). However, mother's self-esteem (${\beta}=-.086$, p>.05) did not have a significant influence on their children's self-esteem. Second, the results of the multi-group path analysis showed that there was no gender differences among relationships. This study showed the importance of providing educational and counseling support to increase children's and father's self-esteem.

  • 이 연구는 교정치료중인 환자의 구강건강영향지수(OHIP)와 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 대구시내에 소재한 교정 전문치과 4곳에서 교정치료를 받고있는 환자 200명을 대상으로 설문지 조사방법을 이용하여 대상자의 일반적 특성 및 교정치료 특성, 구강건강영향지수, 자아존중감을 조사 분석하여 교정치료환자의 구강건강영향지수 및 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하였다. 그 결과, OHIP에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 연령이 낮을수록(P<0.01), 구강건강상태가 좋을수록(P<0.001), 가족의 권유로 교정치료 받는사람이(P<0.05), OHIP에 영향을 주는 요인으로 분석되었으며, 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 남자가(P<0.05), 미혼이(P<0.01), 수입이 많을수록(P<0.05), 자아존중감에 영향을 주는 요인으로 나타났다.

  • This study aims to identify what effect self-growth programs has on self-esteem and career decision-making self-efficacy of female college students. As a result of the study, it was discovered that the self-growth program had a positive effect on improvement of general and academic self-esteem. The self-growth programs had a positive effect on all areas including selection of goals, information on job, problem-shooting and future plans out of the areas of career decision-making self-efficacy. The results of the study demonstrated that the self-growth programs had significant effect on improvement of self-esteem and career decision-making self-efficacy. To help college students respect themselves and others, set their own plans on their future jobs and be responsible for their future, more intensive and useful research on self-growth programs is needed.

  • This study aims to examine the effect of self-esteem on career search self-efficacy and career exploration behavior focused on the mediating effect of career search self-efficacy with a sample of 211 university students majoring in airline service in Choong Chung province. Data collection was carried out using the self-administered questions based on the use of structured survey questionnaire. The results of the study are as follows. First, positive self-esteem had significant positive(+) effect on all the factors of career search self-efficacy while negative self-esteem had a negative(-) effect on interviewing efficacy. Second, positive self-esteem had significant positive(+) effect on job exploration. Third, career search self-efficacy had significant positive(+) effect on career exploration behavior. Lastly, career search self-efficacy fully mediated the relationship between positive self-esteem and career exploration behavior.

Appearance Satisfaction and School Adjustment in Nursing Students: Mediating Effect of Self-esteem and Moderating Effect of Gender (간호대학생의 외모만족과 학교생활적응: 자아존중감의 매개효과와 성별의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment of nursing students. The role of self-esteem and gender in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment were also examined. A descriptive correlational design was adopted and the convenience sample consisted of 188 undergraduate nursing students in D city. It was found that appearance satisfaction affected directly and indirectly through self-esteem on school adjustment. The results indicated that self-esteem had partial mediation effects in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment. Moderation effect of gender was found only in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-esteem. This meant that women were affected more than men according to the level of appearance satisfaction. The results suggested that the intervention program to support nursing students to accept themselves more positively and to enhance their self-esteem will be effective to help nursing students adjust themselves more to school life. It was also indicated in this study that specialized intervention programs are needed for women.

Self-Esteem, Body Image and Factors Influencing on Depression of Infertile Women (난임여성의 자아존중감, 신체상과 우울에 미치는 영향요인)

  • This purpose of this study was to investigate self-esteem, body image and depression in infertile women and to identify factors influencing depression. There were statistically significant difference in self-esteem on variables such as age, education, occupation, pressure of treatment cost. There were statistically significant difference in body image on variables such as period of marriage, education, pressure of treatment cost. There were statistically significant difference in depression on variables such as age, education, family structure, pressure of treatment cost. Self-esteem was positively correlated with body image(r=.688, p=.000). Depression was negatively correlated with self-esteem(r=-.710, p=.000) and body image(r=-.526, p=.000). Factors influencing depression were self-esteem(b=-0.66, p=.000), Living with parents-in-law(b=-7.92, p=.001), and age over 40 years(b=-1.72, p=.033), which explained 63.5%.

  • This study aims to analyze multiple mediating effects of asset and self-esteem on the relationship between disability of household head and life satisfaction. This study used 9th panel data of KoWePS(Korean Welfare Panel Study) and employed path analysis with A-MOS. Research findings of this study are as follows: First, disability of household head had a negative effect on life satisfaction, total assets, and self-esteem. Second, we found not full but partial mediating effects of assets on the relationship between disability and life satisfaction. Third, similarly we found not full but partial mediating effects of self-esteem on the relationship between disability and life satisfaction. Finally, we found multiple partial mediating effects of assets and self-esteem on the relationships between disability and life satisfaction. The findings of this study suggest that financial education as well as asset management targeting persons with disability are necessary and very helpful to sustain their life satisfaction. In addition, we need to think about asset-building programs targeting persons with disability.

Effect of Horticultural Therapy Program Based on Reasoner's Building Self-esteem for Juveniles (Reasoner's Building Self-esteem에 근거한 원예치료 프로그램이 청소년의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of horticultural therapy program based on Reasoner's building self-esteem for juveniles. Fourteen middle school students were recommended by Community education specialist (social worker). Seven experimental group members received a horticultural therapy program and 7 control group members did not during this study performed from April 2009 to July 2009. As the results, the total self-esteem level of the experimental group increased significantly after horticultural therapy (p=$0.046^*$), while control group decreased (p=0.610). In the sub-field of self-esteem, social-peer self-esteem level of the experimental group increased significantly (p=$0.018^*$), while significant difference was not detected for the control group. Therefore horticultural therapy program based on Reasoner's building self-esteem could be utilized as appropriate tools for improvement of self-esteem in juveniles in future clinical studies.
