  • This study analyzed the causal relationship between cooperation elements and the performance of joint R&D and verified the mediating effect of collaborative efforts. Cooperation elements consist of strategic agreement, complementation of resources, trust and absorption capacity, and influence the intention to participate in the joint R&D. The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of the cooperation elements and collaborative efforts on the short-term and long-term performance of the joint R&D. The results are summarized as follows: First, it is verified that strategic agreement, complementation of resources, trust and absorption capacity constitute the second order factor of cooperation elements, which positively affects the joint R&D performance. Second, it is verified that collaborative effort play a role as a mediating factor in the relationship between joint R&D performance and cooperation elements. Specifically, it was confirmed that positive effects on short-term performance of the joint R&D can be increased through cooperative efforts. However, in the case of long-term performance, the effects of collaborative efforts could not be confirmed.

  • The establishment of function and role in government-funded research institute becomes a vital issue as fierce international technology-competition and enhanced industrial convergence makes science and technology important and influential more and in socio-economic level. This paper defines independent and dependent variables to identify factors which influence on research performance. As the independent variables, research funds, research personnel and research support staff are chosen. Dependent variables which are selected as proxy variables of research performance are royalties, papers and patents. Values from regression analysis were drawn by time-series analysis and cross-section analysis. As a result, the significance of correlation coefficients is sequential, research personnel, research support staff and research funds respectively. This finding is expected to give implication of future direction on government-funded research institute development.

  • This study describes the growth, contribution and impact of research carried out by University of Mysore scientists in science and technology. It indicates the patterns of communications of university scientists and studies the extent of concentration and scattering of their research output in different journals. It also analyses the strong and weak areas of university research, their growth rate and impact in terms of average citations received. It also studies the output and impact of research under different existing subject departments of the university and analyses the international collaborative share of research output at the overall level as well as across various subjects, indicating also the major countries involved in international collaboration. It describes the share and characteristics of select high cited papers and the top productive authors.

  • This study clarified the knowledge structure of international collaboration in psychiatry based on analyzing networks in order to construct cooperation networks for international collaboration in psychiatry in South Korea. The result of analysis of knowledge structure at a state-level is as follows. First, this study found that the rate of collaboration for five years is high as 89.97%. Moreover, this study investigated the change of rate of collaboration and international collaboration according to the passage of time, and ascertained that while the rate of international collaboration has increased, Second, this study examined the trend of research on collaboration between Asian countries, and found that collaboration between Asian countries is on a low level. Third, the country (or group) that the number of papers of international collaboration and the value of centrality are the highest is EU-28. The result of analysis of knowledge structure at a research output-level is as follows. this study analyzed the correlation of centrality with research output, and found that positive correlation exists in the three indicators of centrality, and a country with high centrality has good research output.
