  • This study aims to verify the relationship between achievement goal orientation and life satisfaction. It consists of 450 athletes from high school, university, and professional teams as an object. After examining reliability and validity on questionnaires, the data, based on gender, was evaluated by analysis of variance, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The result says that male athletes have higher scores in Mastery approach and Performance approach - two of the four achievement motivation factors - which means a meaningful difference between gender. Life satisfaction also shows that male players have more satisfaction and indicates a big difference between gender. Finally, according to the multiple regression analysis on the Athlete's achievement goal orientation and life satisfaction, Mastery approach affects statically but Mastery avoidance does negatively on athlete's life satisfaction. The gender-based relationship between Athlete's achievement goal orientation and life satisfaction reveals that mastery approach gives positive effects on life satisfaction for both genders, but mastery avoidance influences negatively on male and female life satisfaction.

  • In this study I attempted to compare the two contrasting theories on life satisfaction; alsolute or relative. I could confirm a positive curve-linear relationship of income and life satisfaction among Koreans as in many previous studies. A relative hypothesis saying that one's relative superiority on education could bring about more satisfaction was partly supported in this study. On the other hand, another relative hypothesis saying that income increase could make more satisfaction than income decrease over time on a identical level of income was rejected. This result suggests that income increase can not give more satisfaction in addition to more affluence simply because of the fact that one's current income is higher than his or her previous level of income.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effect of green space satisfaction on the relationship between the perception of air pollution and life satisfaction. To achieve this, the current study employed data from the 2018 Social Survey, and a sample of 37,461 participants was analyzed using moderated multiple regression analysis. Results showed that while greater satisfaction with green spaces improved life satisfaction, a more negative perception of air pollution within the community reduced life satisfaction. It was also found that green space satisfaction moderated the relationship between the perception of air pollution and life satisfaction. In other words, greater satisfaction with green spaces buffered the effect of a negative perception of air pollution on life satisfaction. The results of this study suggest that a green environment should be considered an important resource for preventing reduced life satisfaction, and illustrate that there is a need for developing various strategies for the expansion and improvement of green spaces within communities.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of satisfaction with green space on life satisfaction and to examine mediating effect of subjective health status in the relationship between satisfaction with green space and life satisfaction of older adults living in cities. For the purpose of the study, older adults aged over 65 years old who participated in 2018 Social Survey conducted by Statistics Korea were analyzed. Since a higher level of satisfaction with green space increased the level of life satisfaction, a direct effect of satisfaction with green space on life satisfaction was revealed. Also satisfaction with green space had a significant effect on subjective health status, so persons with a higher level of satisfaction with green space perceive their subjective health more positively.
