Educational Support for Low-Performing Students with Multicultural Backgrounds with Reference to Basic Academic Competency (다문화가정 학습부진학생의 교육 지원 콘텐츠 개발을 위한 기초 연구)

  • The study aims to gain information for developing educational contents to support LPSMB(low-performing students with multicultural backgrounds) through the survey on their personal characteristics, attitudes related to learning, and learning environment. We analyzed a survey of 2,091 students from 200 schools who were low-performing Korean students, LPSMBs, and normally performing students with multicultural backgrounds. Normally performing students with multicultural backgrounds showed statistically significant higher scores on most questionnaires than low-performing Korean students and LPSMBs. However, normally performing students with multicultural backgrounds and LPSMs showed statistically significant lower scores on identity and social relationships. LPSMBs showed lower scores on parents' culture than normally performing students with multicultural backgrounds. We suggested how to support LPSMBs' learning and learning environment based on the survey results.

The Effect of Multicultural Family's Functions on the Social Competence of Multicultural Children -Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Multicultural Family Mothers' Parental Efficacy- (다문화가정의 가족기능이 다문화아동의 사회적 능력에 미치는 영향 -다문화가정 어머니의 양육효능감의 매개효과 검증-)

  • This study is designed to verify structural relations between multicultural family's functions, multicultural family mothers' parental efficacy, and multicultural family children's social competence with the subjects of multicultural family mothers and children. To attain the goal, the researcher collected data through a survey with a self-administered questionnaire conducted to multicultural family mothers and multicultural center workers taking care of multicultural children and utilized 156 sheets for final analysis. According to the study results, multicultural family's functions exert positive effect on multicultural family mothers' parental efficacy, and multicultural family mothers' parental efficacy indicates positive effect on multicultural children's social competence. Also, multicultural family mothers' parental efficacy has completely mediating effect in the relations between multicultural family's functions and multicultural children's social competence. Based on these study results, the researcher suggests ways to intervene with multicultural family mothers and multicultural family in order to help multicultural children grow and develop soundly.

  • Korea society has become a multicultural society by the mid-1990s. It is difficult to adapt to multicultural youth social acceptance without contrast. In particular, Multicultural youth compared to the general characteristics of the home environment was much influenced by the growth. Multicultural youth has plain color, Eye color that general problems of the exchange is not easy, family-friendly social life, make friends and influence more than the home was subjected to environmental impact. In other words, parenting is influenced by the family-friendly social life. multi-cultural families many of the country are concentrated in low-income. Consequently, the home environment is affected by property delinquency. This study was research targeting multicultural youth.

  • This study aims to develop the content structure of healthy dietary education for multicultural family parents who guides their children to the correct and desirable applications at home. This study is an exploratory study intended to establish the contents of healthy dietary education for multicultural family parents. For the methodology we investigated dietary behaviors of children of multicultural families. As a result of examining closely the necessity and contents of healthy dietary education for the multicultural families parents including food safety, nutrition, and food culture. Based upon the above findings, the goals of healthy dietary education for parents were set up, its content area and sub-area(education topics) were composed and fixed, and finally, topic-specific goals and 12 content elements were extracted, detailed and systematized for pre schoolers and elementary school children.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 다문화가정 이주여성의 여가관을 분석함으로써 다문화가정 이주여성의 여가에 도움을 주는 시사점을 도출하는데 있다. 이 연구는 다문화가정 이주여성을 연구대상으로 유의표집법(purposive sampling method)을 이용하여 표본을 추출하였다. 표집된 170명 중 응답이 부실한 설문지를 제외하고 최종분석에 사용된 사례수는 137명이었다. 설문지의 타당도는 요인분석, 신뢰도는 신뢰도분석을 통하여 검증되었다. 신뢰도는 Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ 값이 .613이상으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 SPSS18.0을 이용하여 요인분석, 신뢰도분석, 교차분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화가정 이주여성들의 평일 여가시간은 1-­2시간이 가장 많았으며, 구체적으로 연령은 26­-30세, 학력은 고졸, 국적은 중국, 기간은 6.1년 이상에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 다문화 가정 이주여성들의 주말 여가시간은 1-­2시간, 연령에서는 2­-30세가 가장 많았으며, 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 반면, 학력, 국적, 기간, 월수입은 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 다문화가정 이주여성들의 여가제약은 연령, 학력, 국적, 기간, 월수입에 따라 차이가 있다.

The Study on welfare service of multicultural families youth (다문화가정 청소년의 복지 서비스에 관한 연구)

  • This study intended to search improvement plan of welfare service based on welfare desire research in order to raise the effectiveness of welfare service for youth in multicultural family. The result of study is that youth in multicultural family has a difficulty in study and home problem. As a result of examination to hierarchy needs in daily life, youth in normal family showed higher desire of membership and love(t=-2.006, p<.05) than youth in multicultural family. Youth in multicultural family showed higher desire of self-realization(t=-4.636, p<.05) than youth in normal family. In result of hierarchy needs of welfare, it is indicated that youth in multicultural family has higher desire of safety(t=7.607, p<.05), desire of membership and love(t=8.346, p<.05), desire of self-respect(t=4.683, p<.05), and desire of self-realization(t=2.199, p<.05). Therefore, welfare service for youth in multicultural family needs the cooperation with community and improvement of speciality of welfare service employees based on unitary integrated system and requires the development of indices to reflect the desire of beneficiary.

The Effects of Family Related Multicltural Education Activities on Young Children's and Their Mother's Multicltural Awareness (가정연계 다문화 교육 활동이 유아와 어머니의 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 논문에서는 유아를 위한 가정연계 다문화 교육활동을 계획하고 적용함으로써 유아와 어머니의 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보는 것에 목적을 두고 있다. 분석 결과 첫째, 가정연계 다문화 교육활동이 유아의 다문화 인식 전체와 하위 요인인 문화 개방성, 문화 수용성, 문화 존중성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째 가정연계 다문화 교육활동은 어머니의 다문화 인식 전체와 하위 요소인 문화 수용성, 문화 존중성에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤고, 문화 개방성에는 영향을 미치지 않았다. 셋째, 가정연계 다문화 교육활동에 참여한 유아들의 다양한 표현 결과물과 교사 관찰일지, 교사저널 등을 분석한 결과 유아들의 다문화 관련 인식에 긍정적인 변화가 있었으며, 문화 개방성, 문화수용성, 문화 존중성에도 효과가 있었다. 즉, 가정과 연계한 다문화 교육활동은 유아의 다문화 인식과 어머니의 다문화 인식 중 문화 수용성과 문화 존중성에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있다.

Self-Concept and Career Development of Children from Multi-cultural Families and General Families (다문화가정과 일반가정 초등학생의 자아개념과 진로발달*)

  • The subjects of this study were 180 elementary school students from multi-cultural families and general families. The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in self-concept and career development within two groups and the correlations between self-concept and career development. Also, it was to investigate the self-concept's effects on career development. The results were as follows: First, the children from general families showed higher academic-occupational exploration than those in multi-cultural families. Second, the self-concept had significant correlations with career development in both groups. And there were stronger correlations in children from multi-cultural families. Third, the regression analyses of two groups showed that academic self-concept had significant effects on career development in both groups, but there were higher effects in children from multi-cultural families.

Nonfluency Characteristics of Children in Multicultural Families (다문화가정 아동의 비유창성 특성)

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the characteristics of disfluency in 3~5 year-old multicultural family children(MFC). 24 children(12 MFC, 12 Korean monolingual children, KMC with the same chronological age and language age) participated in this study. The experimental tasks consisted of story retelling tasks(SRT) and picture description tasks(PDT). In all the tasks, the scores of total disfluency of the MFC were significantly higher than those of the KMC. In all the tasks, the frequency of abnormal disfluency of the MFC were significantly higher than those of the KMC and the speech rates of the MFC were significantly lower than those of the KMC. The disfluency observed in MFC indicates that language ability influences on their disfluencies and fluency support of MFC is an important factor in general language support.

  • Level-Based Education is necessary for the multi-cultural learners because they tend to have the academic underachievement and learning deficiency that cause the huge educational gap. However, it is very hard to make the best of competence for the multi-cultural learners in the classroom. So, it is needed to suggest how we can use the educational contents that are appropriate for the Level-Based Learning and Individual Learning to make good use of teaching the learners from multi-cultural families. However, developing the new educational contents takes much time and cost, we have to improve existing contents for the student from multi-cultural families to use it. Hence, the purpose of this thesis is to develop the educational appropriateness evaluation scale to verify the educational contents that are for the multi-cultural students based on the educational content's evaluation tool, so by developing the scale, I intend to evaluate the 4~6 grades' Korean contents of the E-learning service and provide the ways of improvement.
