To this goal, we tested it to 284 elementary school students in measuring various behavior data(reaction time, total playing time, correct rate, discrepancy between type of TMT). Futhermore, the behavior data was compared with academic achievement to see the external validity. In results, 'Draw Ttoring' showed various behavior data and correlation with academic achievement. In Type A of TMT, total time and reaction time had a correlation with academic achievement, while, in Type B of TMT, total time and correct rate did. Mental flexibility calculated by the discrepancy between Type A and Type B showed also the positive correlation with academic achievement. These results showed that the serious game named 'Draw Ttoring' can provide more various information about children attention and these can't be observed by traditional paper pencil test. Finally, serious game can provide an good alternative method to access children's cognition.

  • This study aims to propose instituting the serious games of language-based cognitive enhancement for the BIF children. The program consists of 4 cognitive areas (perception, attention, working memory, knowledge inference) in 4 language dimensions (phoneme, word, sentence, discourse). 16 games of 4 areas/2 dimensions with 3 difficulty levels were implemented in a mobile station and pilot-tested to children including BIFs. The results from the pilot tests supported for the validity and effectiveness of our games: Children's game performance correlated with their IQ scores (overall and sub-areas) revealing significant differences between the groups. The stroop scores in pre-and-post training hinted the increase of children's cognitive control.

  • In this research, we investigated how interactive digital serious games could be used in traditional, offline, school classrooms. We asked four teachers from four different schools to use a job training serious game in their traditional job training curriculum and the teachers used the game in anyway they intended. As a result, the two main ways to integrate gaming into traditional curriculum were gaming within the curriculum and gaming outside the curriculum, although both methods were used to support the main curriculum. When the game was used outside the curriculum, teachers almost always had the students play the game during the computer lab class. Students also played games voluntarily during recess and at home. The factors that affected how the game was used were teacher, student, and location and accessibility of the computer.
