Graphic Design Curricula to Improve Practical Skills Contents (실무수행능력 향상을 위한 시각디자인 교과과정 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine university graphic design curricula to cultivate creative specialized manpower equipped with practical skills. To attain the goal, this author investigated the curricula of four-year, three-year, and two-year universities located in the capital area including Seoul and interviewed those working in 10 specialized design companies located in Seoul and Incheon. According to the findings of analyzing the curricula, four-year, three-year, and two-year universities all emphasize practices based on projects and inquiries more rather than the mastery of basic design. Among the areas, publication graphic designs are emphasized the most, and the next are visual multimedia designs. However, advertising marketing designs are not or hardly emphasized in the curricula. But specialized university education demanded by those specialized design companies is the education emphasizing the mastery of basic design more rather than practices based on projects and inquiries. Concerning the cultivation of specialized graphic designers having central roles as the pillars of knowledge industry or creative industry demanded in this age, it is needed to have a new perspective to reorganize specialized education grounded on close cooperation and favorable relationship between universities in charge of specialized education and those specialized companies.

An Analysis on the Relationship of Computer Curriculums Between Dept. of Computer Education in Universities and IT-Related High Schools (컴퓨터교육과와 IT 관련 고등학교간 교과과정의 연관성 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore relationship of computer curriculums between department of computer education in universities and specialized vocational high schools. We sampled 15 computer curriculums from department of computer education, 17 computer curriculums from specialized high schools and 41 curriculums from vocational high schools. And we compare and analyze the number of subjects and times on all of curriculums. As a result, curriculums in department of computer education is lacking in subjects for domains of multimedia, computer graphics and practical computer graphics. It is low on the relationship of computer curriculums between department of computer educations and IT-related high schools. Therefore, this study concludes by proposing computer curriculums of department of computer education which should reflect the subjects.

  • National Competency Standard (NCS) is a national standard for competencies which are required of an employee to achieve his job successfully. For a university with four-year course, since there is no plan to redesign its subjects by applying NCS and some issues with regard to industrial aspects consistently incur, it should be verified that NCS can be applied to the curriculum of a university following the introduction to new National Qualification Test with the progress evaluation based on NCS. Thus, in this paper, we show the feasibility of applying NCS to the curriculum of a computer engineering department and present the redesign to curriculum using NCS.

  • This paper presents the process of developing, applying and increasingly updating curriculums to reinforce education in IT field through cooperation of industry and academy by the invention of government. In particular, the curriculums are developed and refined in order to satisfy both industry as users and academy as suppliers, using a spiral model, which was originally proposed for software development by Boehm. The result and the assessment are described where the developed curriculums have been applied at the universities in a national-wide base through a project by government. The basic principles of this model are general enough to be applied to curriculum development in various areas of college education.

  • IT education in the colleges or universities and IT industry in producing IT manpower are urgently called for to balance its supply and demand. To correct this problem, Ministry of Information and Communication launched a program where demand-oriented curriculums are developed and applied to colleges. This paper proposes a design technique based on meta-model and software development process in developing curriculums and courses. This meta-modeling technique is proven to result in the extendibility, flexibility and quality improvement in software design. Therefore, we expect that proposed technique makes it possible to be improved in quality.

  • 구라파 학제는 우리학제와 흡사한 미식 학제와 많이 달라 이해하기 힘든점들이 없지 않다. 소론에서 독일대학의 학제를 살펴보며 특히 공과대학의 위치와 전기 및 전자과의 교과과정을 소개하고저 한다. 소론을 통해 오늘날 다시금 대두되고 있는 시대성에 맞는 공대교육, 공과대학의 교육이념 등을 전통적인 독일학제를 살펴봄으로 다소나마 엿볼수 있으면 큰 다행으로 생각한다.

  • Purpose: Prosthodontics education of Korean dental schools is developing under liberal regulation according to the character of each school. Diversity in the current environment and condition for each school make it impossible to apply the same and uniform education curriculum. Therefore the purpose of this paper is to analyze and validate the status of the 2012 prosthodontics education curriculum in Korean dental schools, and to suggest future direction. Materials and methods: A survey was completed by all the 11 dental schools in South Korea. Results: The number of students, age, sex, credits for prosthodontics lecture and practice courses, evaluation method before senior students' clinical practice, modalities for minimum requirement for graduation, beginning and finishing timing of clinical practice and faculty personnel involved in the education varied among the dental schools. Conclusion: High-quality educators leading an expanded teaching personnel are required, education hours must be increased and efficient curriculum must be organized to improve the prosthodontics education.

A Study on the Graduate School Curriculum of the Department of Libraries and Information Sciences in Korea (국내 문헌정보학과 대학원 교과과정에 대한 연구)

  • This study analyzes the changes in the mastes and doctoral programme for 15 years from 2005 to 2020, with 3 to 4 year interval. Based on the results, it provides a fundamental date in order to research the syllabus systematically, to understand the curriculum flow and how to implement it to educate globally competitive experts in information. Primarily, when compares the variable proportion of the number of the school subjects in 2017 and 2020 that assumed from the result, it is decreased by 3.70% and the only field that showed an increased rate was Archives & Records Management by 3.33%. The result showed a decrease in Bibliography (-11.65%), Information science (-4.89%), Business administraion of Libraries·Information centre (-3.62%), General Libraries and Informarion sciences (-3.13%), Information Services (-4.10%), and Information organizaion studies manifested no change in the number of subjects. Furthermore, Information science is offered the highest at 25.15% in 2020, and it showed that was opened in order of Business administraion of Libraries·Information centre (21.30%), Information Services (15.05%), General Libraries and Informarion sciences(12.35%), Information organizaion studies (11.27%), Bibliography (7.95%), Archives& Records Management (6.94%).

Study on the Curriculum standards model of Green Coffee Education (그린커피교육 교과과정 기준 모형 개발에 관한 연구)

  • It has been realized that the flavor of coffee depends on the coffee-producing region and the growing condition. It has also been realized that the species of coffee beans influence the taste of coffee. However, coffee education is currently underway mainly for the simple job training of baristas such as roasting, extracting and customer service, and very little education on green coffee is being done. Therefore, this study is to contribute to the basic research material for the curriculum development of green coffee education. Through surveys to coffee instructors and students to investigate the current situation of green coffee education and awareness level of green coffee, the requirements of green coffee education has been analyzed. Further, the teaching direction and learning factors of green coffee have also been analyzed through Interview Analysis to coffee professionals. Based on the result thereof, this study is to suggest systematic lecturing-learning standards by presenting an education goal of green coffee, selection of education contents, determination of subject name, and composition and listing of education units to be learned. This study will be one of the basic research materials to plan and design the curriculum for green coffee education.
