The study Is Intended to investigate and analyze the system and practice that have been applied to Interior Architecture, comparing with a number of similar foreign cases, in an attempt to seek the way toward its development as well as to come up with the solution for enhancing the competitiveness, thereby making a recommendation on how to create the desirable work environment of Interior Architecture down the road. The conclusion and recommendation we have made is highlighted as follow. Among the practical or procedural challenges in the process of improving work environment of Interior Architecture, development of current national technical qualification system in a way of further detailing the categories of Ki-sul-sa(highest engineer grade) or Ki-neung-jang(highest technician grade) as part of measures aimed at gradual approaching for improvement of design fees and rates or supervision fees will be very crucial, that calls for close coordination with the Ministry of Labor and Human Resources Development Service of Korea. In a bid to upgrade the Interior Architecture to become the part of knowledge-based industry, amendment to Korean Standard Industrial Classification along with Standard Classification of Occupations and Academic Classification will be essential, and moreover with the attitude of reflection and self-improvement, the endeavors to be able to deal with the revision of existing laws and regulations in a consistent way and manner, by forming a joint committee among the three Interior Architecture-related organizations(KOSID, ICC, KlID), will be more than important.
The purpose of this study is to propose a new design principles and to analyze the pattern of art and architecture applying fractal concepts. As this study is based on fractal geometry as a natural science, 1 intented to explain the concepts and provide some methods of generating fractal properties. Two major aspects are discussed. Frist, fractals are geometric shapes that are self-similar, in other words, they iterate a basic shape at ever increasing a decreasing dimensions. In conclusion, the applications of hinged system concept of sliding, folding, over-hangings, are applied in existing one-room apartment plan to enhance flexible space planning which to drive in motivation and adaptation of the dweller's life cycle.

The purpose of this paper was to analyze and to compare the creativity of Nam-June Paik and Louis 1. Kahn to understand the characteristics of creative people. Both of them got strong supports from their family and close people. As they were not originally from the U.S., political and city environments where they settled in the U.S. for the first time strongly influenced their creative activity. The difference in the creative contexts of Paik and Kahn is that Paik had more visual cues in his childhood due to the rich environments. The various visual cues influenced his wide interests in video arts. In creative process, even though both of them more focused on the beginning stage of creative process, there were differences in creative problem solving styles. Kahn considered the imaging and perception as the most Important working process. For him, intuition(gestalt view) and ideation(generator) are more important than intellectual skill. On the other hand, Paik thought the symbolization(conceptualizer) based on his own experience and philosophy(associationism) was the most important.
This study investigates great potential of architectural representation drawings for architects as well as designers to realize their design concept into visual forms. In 1988, an exhibition called "Deconstruction in Architecture" at Modern Art Museum, New York, was an important turning point in design representation. The study examines design drawings of architects of deconstructivism to analyze new attitudes toward building forms and programs in contemporary architecture. The study found in the drawings that initially, collages in many different types are often utilized to express simultaneous time and space. This kind of flow appears to be one of tendencies of interior design. Therefore, to satisfy the residents with the interior design, our study proposes a better space improving monotonousness of the existing apartment through case study. Through the case study, if we analyze the tendency applied to the characteristics of minimalism, we can divide into shape and space. Minimalism space says that the resident can build his/her own space according to the characteristics of the object. Also, it has an advantage of the resident being able to bring in furniture or decoration to change the characteristics of the space. With more accurate understanding and borrowing, we should do multilateral study to research the mixed loading and uncertain minimalism through the case study of apartment space.
Contemporary shops play an important role as a place to experience contemporary culture as well as sales and display techniques. This study is to suggest one of the prototypes of character streets consisting of characteristic shops through the analysis of the stores in the SoHo area in New York City. The study found that there are three kinds of characteristic shops preserving the cast-iron architectural environment in the SoHo area. In the first case, the interiors of the shops are partially renovated original lofts keeping decorative columns, white plaster walls and wooden floors. In the second case, the interiors are totally renovated leaving no old traces. This is achieved through wrapping columns and replacing old materials with new ones. In the third case, the interiors are renovated with the different approaches using mixed ideas and materials. The original columns exist but are transformed in this case. In the third case, shops tend to be extra large and complicated. The Prada shop in SoHo by Rem Koolaas is the best example of this case. This shop is the conceptual city, theater and avant-garde museum itself, that is, the place of experiencing contemporary culture.

It has been true that major investment among local business hotels were placed in furniture design character as there are increasing number of international events hosted by Korea. The study, under these circumstances, as a study In advance to see the design feature and trend of local business hotel's guest room furniture, has done interview with guest room manager, photographing of rooms, actual survey for analysing guest room plane surface, etc., researcher directly visiting 15 hotels that have special first grade businessmen only floor in Seoul. In addition, a survey has been done to know if each hotel room and furniture has particular image, from this survey the design feature of local business hotel's guest room has been analysed, and the result is as following. The result shows that similar pattern is applied in furniture placement of each guest room but for the furniture type and design concept, some try to re-design of wooden furniture available in Lee dynasty and others adopt European style like France and United Kingdom for the realization of semi-classic image. The purpose of this study is to present the advanced plans to get the activation of the domestic furniture manufacture, considering the conditions of the furniture market and business environments before and after IMF Economic Crisis. These are necessary to get over some problems which result in reduction of demand, consumption, and investment under the recession. The furniture manufacture should take the occasion as a pertinent opportunity to strengthen the competitive edge and step up the exploration of the international markets. It is reasonable to conclude that the advanced plans should be designed, implemented, and expanded through the inducement of the government, manufacturers, and foreign investors.
Computer simulation is one of the most useful techniques to predict daylighting performance and present visual image. In architectural and interior design practice, the Lightscape is commonly used often to produce persuasive images rather than physically accurate results. Therefore, this study is to validity the Lightscape as daylighting evaluation tool, in particularly performance and realistically visualization. For the purpose, an evaluation test model (12.0m$\times$7.2m$\times$3.0m) of side lighting window with lightshelf was selected. A 1:6 scale plywood physical model was made. Under clear sky condition, illuminance of 84 Interior point were measured. Lightscape was run on a 750 MHz Pentium PC running Windows 2000 under the same sky condition. And a photography image was compared to rendering image. The physical results of interior illuminance were within 8% between the scale model and Lightscape simulation. There were no differences between the photograph image and rendering image by Lightscape in the sight. Lightscape as visualization tool for daylighting performance was validated.
The goal of this study was to understand human behavior in reference to wayfinding during emergency situations. In an emergency situation, it is recommended that evacuees follow instructions about an available exit rather than finding their way on their own. Wayfinding studies suggest that landmarks affect entire route communication. Landmark analysis for this study Identified describability, e.g., name and simplicity of landmark features. A virtual reality (VR) simulation test was conducted to examine the effect of landmarks on wayfinding. The independent variables were landmarks, smoke. Results suggest that the describability of landmarks is a positive Influence to route communication. Findings from this study, however, Indicates that smoke condition did not significantly affect participants' wayfinding.
Currently, obtaining information about the interior design studies through the internet web sites is one of the outstanding mediums. Those are of the housings, architecture, interior design, furniture products, hotels and its journals, etc., and out of all those informations are the highly expected value of use. This study focuses on web-site uses in the interior designs' business. To process the study, a two-step research was executed; The step 1 was to find out the current status of web-sites by asking the each panelist to submit the monitored results after having searched and tested for more than two sites that was executed during the October, 2001. The analysis was made with the 47 sample sites selected from the monitored sites. And the step 2 was to find out the contents and evaluation factors of web-sites related the interior design. The results of the study are summarized as follows: First, the monitored Intoner design related 25 web-sites were classified into 3 groups. One group of 13 sites is identified as a remodeling/construction works, and one another with 7 sites is as shopping site, and the other with 5 sites is as a professional portal site. Second, the evaluation has been implemented which has shown 5 variables on the information searches are $\circled1$ the diversities of contents, $\circled2$ the accuracy/reliability of techniques, $\circled3$ the design of a picture and communication, $\circled4$ the convenience of link, and $\circled5$ the originality of web-site This study will provide the users with a fundamental material in evaluating the quality of interior design information on the internet web sites.

The model can be applied with variable analysis model, as digital image process and other analysis model such as 'Isovist' It is possible that further study can complement problems from this study.
