Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a program outcomes assessment system based on Course Embedded Assessment for nursing education. Methods: This study was conducted in accordance with the procedures of the developmental research method. Results: The major results are as follows. 1) The program outcomes were measured according to the Analytic Hierarchy Process. 2) The Course Embedded Assessment matrix was made according to program outcomes' weight, the curriculum-organizing principle, and achievement levels. 3) The Course Embedded Assessment rubric was developed in logical process, and consisted of a performance criterion, and rating scale. The content validity index of the Course Embedded Assessment rubric was 0.85. 4) An evaluation guideline and 12 documents were developed to facilitate the performance of the assessment system. 5) The average content validity index of the Course Embedded Assessment-based program outcomes assessment system was as high as 0.89. Conclusion: A Course Embedded Assessment-based program outcomes assessment system is more suitable for accreditation of nursing education than previous studies. Because this system evaluates the process of achievement as well as program outcomes, the results can also serve as immediate feedback to improve the educational process. Above all, this system facilitates that students check their achievements and strive to acquire core competencies in nursing.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the nursing informatics competencies, problem-solving ability, and nursing performance ability of nurses, and to determine factors that affect their nursing performance ability. Methods: Data were collected from 210 clinical nurses employed by a general hospital having more than 500 beds in Seoul. The data were collected from June to October, 2014. The questionnaires included a nursing informatics questionnaire, the Korea problem solving process inventory, and a nurse performance appraisal tool. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Nursing performance ability had statistically significant correlation with nursing informatics competencies (r=.49, p<.001) and problem-solving ability (r=.66, p<.001). Factors influencing nursing performance ability were problem-solving ability, nursing informatics competencies, work experience, and educational status, accounting for 54% of the variance. Conclusion: Findings indicate that nursing informatics competencies and problem-solving ability have important influences on the nursing performance ability of clinical nurses. Thus, in order to provide an improvement in nursing performance ability, educational programs towards nurses' problem-solving ability and nursing informatics competencies should be provided.

Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the factors influencing health promotion behaviors. Methods: The subjects were 200 students sampled from the population that attend four universities in G and J city. Data were collected with a questionnaire and were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean age of subjects was 21. Family function and self-efficacy were identified as determinants of health promotion behaviors, which explained 53% of the total variances of health promotion behavior. Conclusion: The findings provide evidence to help health assessment and activity related to the health promotion behavior of university students.

Purpose: This study was done to develop and to evaluate an integrative palliative care scale for cancer patients. Methods: The process included construction of a conceptual framework, generation of initial items, verification of content validity, selection of secondary items, preliminary study, and extraction of final items. The participants were 173 cancer patients in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. Item analysis, factor analysis, criterion related validity, and internal consistency were used to analyze the data. Results: Eighteen items were selected for the final scale, and categorized into 3 factors explaining 58.3% of total variance. The factors were labeled as social/environmental palliative care (9 items), psychological palliative care (4 items), and physical palliative care (3 items), and spiritually palliative care (2 items). The scores for the scale were significantly correlated with the quality of life of cancer patients. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the 18 items was .88. Conclusion: The above findings indicate that the integrative palliative care scale has good validity and reliability when used for cancer patients.

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship among grit, academic resilience, and psychological well-being among nursing students. Methods: The participants were 271 nursing students, enrolled in C university. Data were collected from September 5 to 30, 2016 and analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The mean scores for academic resilience were above average. The mean score for grit and psychological well-being presented an appropriate level. Psychological well-being in nursing students was significantly correlated with academic resilience (r=.65, p<.001) and grit (r=.52, p<.001). The significant predictors of psychological well-being for nursing students were academic resilience (${\beta}=.47$, p<.001), grit (${\beta}=.26$, p<.001), and major satisfaction (${\beta}=.20$, p<.001) which explained 53.1% of the variance in psychological well-being. Conclusion: The results indicate that it is necessary to develop grit and academic resilience enhancement programs to improve the psychological well-being of nursing students.

Purpose: This study examined the effects of self-leadership and critical thinking disposition on adaptation to college among nursing students. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted with 325 nursing students using a self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using a t-test, one way ANOVA, $Scheff{\dot{e}}$ test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis with SPSS 20.0. Results: The mean score of college adaptation was 3.22. Significant predictor variables affecting adaptation to college were satisfaction in major (${\ss}=.45$, p<.001), behavior-focused strategies (${\ss}=.16$, p<.001), leadership level (${\ss}=.15$, p=.003), and grade (${\ss}=.11$, p=.016). The explanation power of this regression model was 32.2% and was statistically significant (F=64.60, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that an effective college adaptation program should be developed by including improvement of satisfaction in major, behavior-focused strategies, and leadership level.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the choice experiences of students majoring in nursing and whose mothers were nurses. Methods: The participants of this study were 12 students, six male and six female. Data were collected via an in-depth personal interview. The collected data were analyzed with Colazzi's phenomenological methodology. Results: A core theme of 'Natural choice as my major' emerged. In addition, we found the following three theme clusters: 1. My choice; 2. Expanding relationship between Mother and I; 3. Journey with mother. Conclusion: The results of this study show that the mothers of nursing students who were nurses themselves were good role models. They could influence their children to choose nursing as a profession. Also, they affected or are affecting their children to be colleagues in the same way. If we could provide good working environments for nurses, the next generation will also choose nursing as a profession and ultimately establish a family line. An educational setting is required to provide better professional nursing conditions for the next generation.

Purpose: This study observes the degrees of perfectionism (both self-oriented and socially-prescribed perfectionism), academic resilience, and satisfaction with major in nursing students and identifies the influence of perfectionism and academic resilience on satisfaction with major. Methods: Data from 115 second or third-year students in a nursing were collected for two months at different three universities. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Satisfaction with major was higher for second year students compared to third year students. And the satisfaction was higher for those with a higher Grade point average (${\geq}_-3.5$) compared to those with a lower. Self-oriented perfectionism had a higher score than socially-prescribed perfectionism and academic resilience based on self-control was rated the highest score of the subcategories. The degree of satisfaction was positively correlated with Self-oriented perfectionism and academic resilience. The final regression model showed that grade and academic resilience accounted for 34.2% of the variance in predicting the level of satisfaction with major. Conclusion: The results suggest that it is crucial to find a strategy that could enhance academic resilience, especially designed for upper-year university students, to improve the level of satisfaction with major.

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the factors influencing the competence in intensive and critical care nursing of senior nursing students. Methods: A descriptive survey was used to examine the factors that influence competence in intensive and critical care nursing. The data were collected using self-administered questionnaires; 237 senior nursing students were asked about general characteristics, critical thinking, communication competence, self-esteem, self-resilience, and self-leadership. Results: Multiple regression analysis indicated that self-leadership, self-esteem, and confidence in intensive care unit practice predicted the competence in intensive and critical care nursing (37.8% of explanatory power). Critical thinking, communication competence, and self-resilience were not shown to be significant predictors of, but were positively correlated with, the competence in intensive and critical care nursing. Conclusion: Based on the results, it is suggested that self-leadership, self-esteem, and confidence in intensive care unit practice should be considered in nursing education in order to improve nursing students' level of competence in intensive and critical care nursing.

Purpose: This purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of educational design according to Goal-based Scenario constituent elements such as educational goals, mission, cover story, role, scenario operation, resources, and feedback in simulation training. Methods: The subjects of this study were 130 nursing students in their senior year who enrolled in the simulation exercise I course. They were divided into a total of 10 groups in which less than 20 students were assigned. In order to verify the effectiveness of the simulation training through Goal-based Scenario instructional design, a design of non-equality control group was carried out. Results: The results of this study were as follows: Critical thinking (t=1.81, p=.073) and problem solving ability (t=1.79, p=.076), course satisfaction (t=8.61, p<.001) and academic performance (t=5.48, p=.001) were supported. Conclusion: This study applied a Goal-based Scenario simulation program to present clear objectives for simulating training and to advance learning methods that are appropriate to the current education environment. In addition, this study has significance in presenting an instructional model for various simulated practice education and can be used as useful basic data related to simulated training education.
